HUMAN BODY THEATER is out today!  This is very first graphic novel that I have both WRITTEN and DRAWN; you might call it my book-baby.  (This photo was taken in my nerdy, nerdy office.)  Human Body Theater is 240 pages of comics all about the human body, how it works and how to take good care of it.  It’s targeted towards kids ages 10-14, but I hope that kids and adults of all ages will enjoy it.  I’ll be posting a list of Human Body Theater-related events later today (including my whole schedule for New York Comic Con). WOOOOO!!!  GUTS!!!!!!!

You can order a copy here, or pick one up from your favorite bookstore.

In less than a month, Human Body Theater will be making its debut(t)!  Have you ever wanted to read a 240-page comic book about your very own fantastic human body?  Well, now you can.  This book includes classic hits like “Why Do We Yawn?”, “How Does a Cut Get Infected?” and “Where Do Farts Come From?”.  There are elaborate dance routines by oxygen molecules in tutus and a chorus line of infectious diseases (because I though everyone would want to see a bacterium in fishnet stockings).

I’ll be posting some teasers from the book over the next few months, so stay tuned!

Look for Human Body Theater on Oct 6 (or you can pre-order it here)!

Greetings, meat machines!  Happy (belated) Valentine’s Day.  While I do not condone a holiday filled with waxy, cheap chocolates, chalky candy hearts, and sappy poems, I DO fully support cardiovascular health!  BOOYEAH.  So, take your heart on a date.  Personally, I took mine for a brisk two-hour shoveling of snow, followed by a 5-mile walk in said snow.  It sure beats (ha!) staying in and eating bad chocolate.

The above image is from my next book,Human Body Theater, coming out this October from First Second Books!

Market Monday: Picks of the Week - All Singles Edition, April 9, 2014

Lumberjanes #1 by Noelle Stevenson, Grace Ellis, and Brooke A. Allen

WHY WE LOVE IT: Five best friends spending the summer at Lumberjane scout camp…defeating yetis, three-eyed wolves, and giant falcons…what’s not to love?!

WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT: It’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Gravity Falls and features five butt-kicking, rad teenage girls wailing on monsters and solving a mystery with the whole world at stake. And with the talent of acclaimed cartoonist Noelle Stevenson, talented newcomer Grace Ellis writing, and Brooke Allen on art, this is going to be a spectacular series that you won’t want to miss.

WHAT IT’S ABOUT: Jo, April, Mal, Molly and Ripley are five best pals determined to have an awesome summer together…and they’re not gonna let any insane quest or an array of supernatural critters get in their way! Not only is it the second title launching in our new BOOM! Box imprint but LUMBERJANES is one of those punk rock, love-everything-about-it stories that appeals to fans of basically all excellent things.
