Among them was Mickey Rooney (back when he was making the Andy Hardy movies) as Garfield Logan. As Judy Garland was the model for Mary Marvel and did a number of Teen comedies in the 40s with Mickey Rooney I was inspired to make this fan art

It’s kinda funny that probably the first teenage superheroine has nearly the same name as one of the most recent to reach critical acclaim. Especially since the whole “Captain Marvel” name itself is a fiasco and a half that’s really ripping off the first epithet of Superman (“The Living Marvel” as described in the first line of Action Comics No. 1).
Personality wise, the two are similar, but their backgrounds could not be more different. They’re both very upbeat and positive characters, if someone naive, but they shed their green and become heroes in their own right! As for backgrounds, however, Mary Batson is an orphan adopted by socialite status before meeting her much less fortune, long lost brother Billy Batson(I’ll let you figure out the rest from there). Kamala Khan, on the other hand, is a Pakistani Muslim immigrant trying to make her way in New Jersey whilst feeling out of place amongst her peers.
Bridging this gap between the two whilst staying true to both characters is rather straightforward. This Amalgamized character is the child of first-generation immigrants that made a sizable fortune before moving to the Northeastern United States. Due to their wealth and the growing stigma around Muslim immigrants, her parents often sheltered her from the outside world, and she always felt disconnected from her classmates at a preppy private school.
As for powers, one is a flying brick, whilst the other is a polymorph. Not exactly the most compatible powers in the world, but we can work with them. My plan is for this power combination to vaguely resemble Majinn Buu of Dragon Ball fame, with the all of the powers of a electrically-charged champion of Shazam(plus needing to use a magic name of some sort to activate the powers) combined with shape shifting akin to a polymorph. This is explained as having minor abilities of divine beings(never explicitly stated whether it’s of a monotheistic or polytheistic origin, just that she has divine strength, speed, flight, lightning, shapeshifting, and compassion).
No matter the direction this character is taken, the Marvels would honestly make the best of friends, and I do not accept anything else.
BILLY BATSON has become the Champion of SHAZAM yet again, alongside his newly found foster family. As he and his siblings become acclimated to their various powers and abilities, their bond grows. These blissful times do not last long, however, as BILLY and his sister MARY are suddenly approached by an uncle they never knew they had. EBENEZER BATSON is threatening to take the BATSON children from their foster family, and break up the magic of SHAZAM for good.
