I’m Caravaggio Chiaroscuro, Lord Protector of this beautiful land and tasked with the privilege of speaking for my homeland at this event.
Many of you may know me. Limn has long been a place of inclusion and collaboration. We provide services and advice to kingdoms, realms and businesses alike, fairly and with creativity at the core of all we do.
For those of you who don’t know us, know that I am no king, merely a representative of a people who will be glad to call you friends.
In that spirit I join you today not from a palace but from my own home, with my wife at my side.

As ambassadors, we open our resources to the other realms and hope you do the same. And most importantly, I am single if any of you realms are looking -winks-.

Cheer is almost pleading now, but she bites her lower lip and composes herself. "At least let me protect you.”
The Portal’s glow brightens the chamber as Dreamweaver rises from her throne.
She turns back to address her wife before stepping through. “No. You must stay with our people. If something does happen to me, you will need to take the throne.”
While Pie News understands that this weekend’s introductions are merely the first act of a formal summit, we must ask, could we see the beginnings of major alliances, feuds or even royal romance?

Carmella:I will be leaving the Beta Prince behind and taking the Gamma with me. While I am gone my brother’s word should be considered my own, I trust him to do good for the kingdom and our people.
Raven:Glad to hear it. Well then, we’ll let you go. Thank you for sparing a minute for us.
Carmella: Of course, Raven.
Raven: And there they go. Truly a testament to our kind. As you are all aware, the changes she has made in her short reign have changed our world for the better. We will never be able to repay her for her hard work.
Carmella:Good morning, my friends. I hope I can call you all that.
In my one year reign things have been smooth, so it is unsurprising that an event this big has appeared at this time. I hope that I am able to represent our people appropriately and with the kindness you have shown me and my brother in the time since our parents passed.
We have to keep in mind the possibilities of dangers ahead and I would encourage all Alphas to keep track of your people more than ever until the Convergence ends. We do not know how long it will last but I trust you all to protect your packs. We will return as soon as possible, and remember; it is my honour to serve you as you serve me. Thank you.

Raven: And there they are! The Alpha Queen, Beta Prince and Gamma have exited the main portion of the palace. Your highness! Your highness! Can you spare WWE a few words before you head off?
Carmella: Good evening people of Etrus, it is my honour, as always, to be able to stand before you on this most auspicious of occasions.
I am here tonight to bring to the attention of the populace a Convergence not seen in the past 500 years; the other realms of supernaturals and humans alike have connected for the first time since The Forgotten Alpha’s reign.
As such, all rulers of these realms have been invited to attend a summit to discuss treatises and alliances for the time the convergence is open.
This will happen next month and from then the gates will be open for visits and travel. If any member of the populace wishes to visit these realms, to find mates or to expand their lives, you will be welcome to so long as you apply for a permit.

Things have been quiet after the deaths of the former Alpha Queen Clementine and Eos Vermillion last year and the coronation of their daughter, Alpha Queen Carmella Valarian.
As we are all aware from her announcement, various realms thought lost to time have connected once again. Let’s roll the announcement while we wait for her royal highness to make her appearance.
But you heard it here, folks! Expect updates on this as it continues, if we’re lucky, I’ll be trailing our Queen on her trip. But for now, back to the studio for a look at this week’s weather!

The reason for this is that due to the recent unforeseen demise of my parents, King Strato and Queen Cirrus, as well as my sister, the Heir Apparent Princess Alto, we are in need of making new alliances.
There is a meeting occurring with the other representatives and I will be attending with a small team. While I’m away, I have organised for my council to look after your needs. With this, we will also be opening our borders and starting up our tourism industry again, though there will be laws and limitations for our visitors. I sincerely hope that you will welcome them with joy in your hearts, as you did with me.

Today we learned that conches, the sea-dwelling mollusks who live inside those big, beautiful conch seashells in warm tropical waters, peer out at the world with cartoonish eyes on tiny eyestalks. They see you. They see everything. And what’s more, they can regenerate their peepers should they happen to lose one or both of them.
“One1976 paper dug into the specific behind these animals’ alien eyestalks. Sitting at the tips of long stalks, they contain retinas with both sensory cells and colored pigment cells. But the story gets weirder because obviously, it gets weirder. After amputating the conchs’ eyes, a fully-formed replacement took its place 14 days later. Humans, we really are losing this evolutionary game.”

Here’s another perspective on why .999… repeating is exactly equal to 1.
For any two distinct real numbers, we can always find a rational number strictly between them, i.e. that rational number must be able to be expressed as a terminating decimal or a repeating decimal. To be clear, that rational number is strictly between the two values; it is not allowed to be equal to either.
Suppose k is a rational number strictly between 1 and 0.9999…. If this is possible, then, I can write k exactly as either a decimal with finite digits, or I can write k as a repeating decimal. The problem is, there are no decimals with finite digits between 1 and 0.999… , and there is no way to write a repeating decimal that is greater than 0.999… and still less than 1. Either way, a k strictly between 1 and 0.999… does not exist. The only way this can be true is if those two numbers are not actually distinct. That is to say, 1 = 0.999…..
My favourite math fact is that 0.9999999.. is equal to 1. Exactly. Not approximately. Not as a rounded number. 0.9999 (recurring) is exactly 1.
This is a fun fact with a lot of interesting explanations! While every real number has a unique decimal expansion, sometimes you can express a number in more than one way, provided you bend the rules a bit and use infinitely many digits.
Here’s a little explanation I just came up with, involving a convergent sequence.
No matter how hard you try, you can never write out 0.999… because it has infinitely many digits. However, we can get as close as we please using numbers we can write out.
Start with 0.9. Then add another decimal place, 0.99. Then 0.999. You can imagine this pattern continuing indefinitely, and each term has a finite number of digits. Every step gets closer to 1, but never reaches it. We say that this sequence converges, and the value it converges to is 1. The notation might look something like this:
Infinity is a tricky thing and isn’t exactly real, but you can imagine the only way to get a term that “equals” 1 would be to go infinitely far. @secondaristh gave a great explanation that kind of ties into this sequence: for any number k you choose that is less than 1, you can always find a number in this sequence that is greater than it.
