So back in 2004 or 2005(I don’t remember which), there was this guy offering me a ride. I didn’t think much of it and accepted the offer. Later on, that guy was asking me if I could give him a blow job. I told him I don’t do that because I’m straight. He dropped me off shortly after, but I was still too far off from where I wanted to go.
I guess he thought that I was “gay” or “trans” due to me wearing black eyeliner and having long black hair. Some people often confuse goths with gay or trans people. Things probably would have gotten worse if he had held a gun to my head, at the time I didn’t have a weapon to defend myself.
So fast forward to the summer of 2006. Olivia and I had broken up in 2005. So I met her sister Ashley during the summer of 2006 when she came to visit. We got on the bus, went to the mall, and spent some time together. But once we decided to part-ways when we decided to take the bus back home, I had no idea what happened to her at the time but I should have walked her home that night.
In 2007, Olivia and I got back together. She told me about what happened to her sister Ashley. She hopped into a car with strangers and she got raped. This upsets me because I should have walked her home to make sure she was safe. It was upsetting for me. I wish there was a way I could have known so that I could get her home safely, but I wasn’t street smart when it came to living in Grand Rapids at the time.
Are most men like this? I don’t think so. But I think there’s a lot of sick bastards who do that sort of crap. Which reminds me, I saved a 13-year-old girl from her stepfather, got the police called on him and now he’s rotting in prison. She is grateful that I saved her and gave her the strength to do something about her stepdad since he was raping her.
I understand why rape victims don’t feel safe being alone with men. It’s nothing personal, you just have to understand what victims have gone through, triggers their PTSD. Don’t get offended if some women don’t want to hang out with you, it’s nothing against you. Some women just want to be left alone.
