Tips for Meditating

• Don’t Force your eyes closed

If your eyes want to be open or wander, let them. Don’t force yourself to do something just because it’s what others do

•You don’t have to be smiling

If your face doesn’t relax into a smile don’t make it. Let your face in it’s most comfortable position

•You don’t have to be sitting up straight

Be comfortable. If that’s standing, laying, or an awkward jumble of limbs, what ever is comfy

• Surround Yourself with/Hold items that bring you comfort or joy

Trinkets, gifts, items that hold memories, what helps you relax

• Listening to music is allowed

If a rhythm helps you relax of help you control your breathing, or if focusing on lyrics helps to stop your mind from wandering, listen to it (I personally listen to Hozier or Avi Kaplan)

Your breath is more important than the shapes you make on your mat. It’s our breath that transforms our lives. I will always love the movement of this practice, like coming home and kicking off my shoes. It’s familiar and safe.

But what’s truly been keeping me alive this month, the end of 2019, is breath and meditation and dancing and writing sh!t out. I intend to bring more of this wild n out in the open in 2020. It’s long overdue and my commitment for this new year is: expansion. It’s my word and I’m sticking to it, letting it stretch me to uncomfortable depths and freaky new territory.

New Moon Meditation ‍♂️ ‍♀️ A meditation dedicated to our chakra system and activating the best version of ourselves for the month ahead!

We start by connecting to our energy centers with a guided meditation to connect with each energy center and experience the sensation it holds.

New moons are a time to call in new energy and intentions for the month ahead. All too often our limiting beliefs get in our way and block us from manifesting our desires so working with our chakras and participating/consciously guiding the energy through our system is one way to start recognizing that we are power manifesting beings in charge of our reality.

By letting go of the fears we hold and blockages we have unknowingly put in place we can release what no longer serves us if only for a moment and begin to materialize our desires into our reality.
Suggestions: Yoga mat, blanket, pillow and water. Although encouraged to remain in a comfortable seated position, you may potentially be in stillness for 30 minutes so having extra cushions on hand is encouraged for ultimate relaxation.
