Pokemon is a series which is widely known throughout the whole world. I believe that there is no child that would not recognize this name. From game fans to the anime lovers, Pokemon represents a valuable part of their childhood and as such, we mostly believe that we know all about this series there is to know. But, these following facts will definitely prove you wrong. Go through this list and discover a new dimension to this shows which you have not experienced before.
1. Poliwag’s swirls actually resemble a real-life tadpole’s intestines.
Tadpoles are young amphibians that usually live in the water, though a few tadpoles are semi-terrestrial and terrestrial. During the tadpole stage of the amphibian life cycle, most respire by means of autonomous external or internal gills. They do not usually have arms or legs until the transition to adulthood, and typically have a large, flattened tail with which they swim by lateral undulation, similar to most fish. During the final stages of external metamorphosis, the tadpole’s mouth changes from a small, enclosed mouth at the front of the head to a large mouth the same width as the head. The intestines shorten to accommodate the new diet.
2. Every Spinda has a unique pattern of spots; there are over 4 billion combinations in-game.
Spinda first appeared in the episode „Going for a Spinda“. In that episode, Ash and the rest had to help a girl named Claire find a Spinda with a heart-shaped spot on its forehead. After it was introduced, this pokemon was positively accepted by the audience, even more in the game. While it is fun trying to capture all of the different pokemon, imagine having to catch 4 billion Spinda just because each of them has a unique pattern of spots. Good luck to the game fanatics who want to pursue this goal.
3. The names for each of the three legendary birds ends in Spanish: ArticUNO, ZapDOS and MolTRES.
It may seem really absurd as a mind-blowing fact, but admit it, most of you have not noticed this while playing the game of watching the anime. Due to the fact that all of the tree pokemon are legendary pokemon, it is understandable that their names have this pattern, marking the 3 maybe most important pokemon at that time. Also, this is not the only case where such a pattern was used, but I will not reveal thw other pokemon. It’s up to you to find them yourself.
4. Gengar is a Shadow type Pokemon and this “shadow” may be related to how similar it looks to Clefable
Due to the many similarities, fans have come with a theory that Gengar is actually the shadow form of Clefable. Here are some of the statements which support this theory: Gengar and Clefable have, through trademarking and beta art, been proven to have been some of the earliest pokemon made. Coincidentally, they are also some of the first pokemon when you list the original 151 by index number, with Gengar appearing shortly after Clefable. Also, Clefairy was originally going to be the mascot of Pokemon (instead of Pikachu), so it was going to be a pretty important pokemon. Gengar is known as the “Shadow Pokemon”, but what exactly is it a shadow of? If you take a look at a Clefable, and at Gengar, you will notice that their body shapes are almost exactly alike, with the only major difference being that Clefable has a curl for its hair and tail, while Gengar has spikes. However, the shadow of an upright spiral like Clefable’s tail would only be a line, or a spike. One of them is normal-type, and the other has ghost-type. Due to their immunities, neither of them could hit the other with STAB attacks, since they’d just be immune to each other. Have you ever tried to hit your shadow?
5. It’s rumored that the music in the Pokemon Tower in Lavender Town prompted young people around the world to become suicidal.
Though many rumors were present at that time about the music in Lavander Town to affect the children and make them suicidal, none of it was proven thus far. While many claim that they could hear a certain pattern of noise implantated in that music, others negated it. But, despite the fact that it wasn’t proven, the music for that town was changed to prevent further comlications.
6. Yamask Pokemon actually contain the souls of humans who lived long ago; the faces they carry are said to be those humans’ actual faces and cry when reminiscing of memories.
Yamask is a shadow-like Pokémon holding a mask that has a face from its time as a human. A Yamask appeared before Team Rocket in „Battling For The Love of Bug-Types!“ where James proceeded to catch it. Another one also appeared in „A Night in the Nacrene City Museum!“, where it was causing havoc in the Nacrene City Museum because its mask had been put on display after it accidentally dropped it while sleeping. In Pokemon Black the entry states this: “ Each of them carries a mask that used to be a face when it was a human. sometimes they look at it and cry.” This pokemon does not want to be a pokemon and wants to go back to its orginal life. When it looks at his/her face it cries. This is a very dark story to be in Pokemon.
7. The first Kadabra was actually a boy with psychic abilities who awoke one morning transformed.
In the Pokemon entries for Emerald you can find the information that it is rumored that a boy with psychic abilities suddenly transformed into Kadabra while he was assisting research into extrasensory powers and in FireRed that a boy with extrasensory powers awoke in bed transformed into Kadabra one morning. This opens up new questions about how the other Kadabras came to be and how in the world can someone transform into a pokemon out of the blue.
8. It’s rumored that Mew and Ditto are nearly one and the same, but that Ditto is a failed version of Mew. They both weigh 8.8 lbs, know Transform naturally, are pink but blue when shiny, and can learn every move – if only temporarily for Ditto.
Mew is the ancestor to every known Pokemon, containing information on every other Pokemon in its cell structure, so it has the ability to use all technical and hidden machines. A group of scientists dreamed of creating the world’s greatest Pokemon. Their plan was to clone Mew and amplify the creation’s powers, resuling in one the first artificial Pokemon, Mewtwo. This theory states that more than just Mewtwo was created; Ditto may be the result of failed attempts to create Mewtwo from the scientists. Most media in Pokemon will use occasionally use the word, “fetus”, an interesting choice, to describe Mew, as well as potray Mew as a fetus/embryo. Additionally, we also know that Mew is capable of asexual reproduction, a trait only one other Pokemon seems to have, Ditto, and there are many more. On Cinnabar Island, clues allude to this place for the site of experiments in the creation of Mewtwo, as well as countless test cloning. Coincidentally, Ditto is found everywhere on Cinnabar Island.

The first legendary Pokémon you’ll encounter after leaving Lavender Town is Mew, who will appear before you at Mt. Moon, on your way from Cerulean City to Pewter City. This is also the first time you’ll run into Dante, the leader of Team Neo-Rocket, who’s trying to capture Mew with little luck. After this encounter, Mew will become a roaming Pokémon.
It will become steadily more likely to find Mew in tall grass each time you receive a gym badge, and you will gain the ability to track roaming Pokémon via your Pokédex after receiving your fourth badge. The likelihood of encountering Mew will top out at a 50% chance upon stepping into tall grass in the same area as Mew, after you have defeated the final gym in Johto. Mew maintains a consistent level of 50, which will also make it exceedingly difficult to catch, even if you do encounter it early in your journey, to say nothing of the trouble you might have training it without enough gym badges.
The next legendary Pokémon you’ll encounter are the legendary birds.
Articuno and Zapdos have maintained their posts in the Seafoam Islands and the power plant, respectively. Moltres, however, is now found on Mt. Moon. The unusual qualities that attracts Pokémon like Clefairy appears to also draw legendary Pokémon! When you encounter each legendary bird you will also face Neo-Rocket grunts, aiming to tame these powerful, elemental birds. Once you have thwarted Team Neo-Rocket’s exploitative plans you’ll have the opportunity to battle and catch the birds yourself.
However, Team Neo-Rocket has more than just the legendary birds on their agenda. You will encounter them again after you have defeated Erika (the penultimate trainer on your Indigo League gym challenge), when they cause problems on the newly-settled Cinnabar Island.
Team Neo-Rocket are on the island searching for the legendary Pokémon Mewtwo, who they have reason to believe is hidden away in the island’s now-dormant volcano. To this end they have defeated every trainer in the Cinnabar gym, including Fina’s strongest team, and used explosives to damage the gym building. Behind the gym–an area usually blocked off and inaccessible to anyone but gym/lab personnel–is a cave entrance in the side of the volcano.
In enlisting your help to defeat Team Neo-Rocket, Fina explains the situation to you: Mewtwo was created from Mew, and mistreated by the scientists that cloned it from Mew/mutated its DNA. This project was partly funded by Team Rocket, and the goal was to create the absolute most powerful Pokémon. They arguably succeeded, but in doing so they created an angry, cold-hearted being, filled with rage for the control and abuse it suffered at the hands of humans.
In the decades since Mewtwo’s creation, however, it has become more comfortable with humans. Champion Red and Professor Orchid have both worked with Mewtwo to communicate that humans are not exclusively exploitative and evil, and that Pokémon training is a cooperation between trainer and Pokémon, not the absolute control of a Pokémon by its trainer. Leader Fina herself has been working closely with Mewtwo, after her mentor, Blaine, made amends with the legendary Pokémon.
Mewtwo now lives on Cinnabar Island, taking refuge in the caverns and caves of the dormant volcano, which is further maintained through Mewtwo’s power, assuring that the humans and Pokémon on the island will be protected from the natural dangers of the volcano. But now, Team Neo-Rocket are barging into Mewtwo’s refuge, with the full intent of destroying it, capturing the Pokémon that have found protection here and forcing Mewtwo back into servitude for the benefit of Team Neo-Rocket.
In the caves and the heart of the volcano, you’ll find many lush, grassy spaces amongst the rocks, and a wide variety of Pokémon. Most notably, this island hideaway is home to Growlithes/Archenines, Dratinis/Dragonairs, Magbys/Magmars, and is one of the few places where you can encounter Crobat in the wild.
Throughout the caves, Neo-Rocket grunts will work to stop you in your tracks, and when you finally reach the deepest cavern in the heart of the volcano, the leader of Team Neo-Rocket, Dante, challenging Mewtwo. You’ll need to battle Dante to protect Mewtwo’s new home, and all of the Pokémon who live here!
Once you have defeated Dante, Mewtwo will comment that they were impressed by your skill in battle and your closeness with your Pokémon. Because of this, Mewtwo makes an offer to you that, once you have obtained your final gym badge, if you can defeat this legendary Pokémon in battle, Mewtwo will join your party. As such, you can return to Cinnabar island any time after defeating gym leader Blue, and take on Mewtwo.
Their defeat on Cinnabar Island will have weakened Team Neo-Rocket, so your next step will be to take them on in their own headquarters, back in Vermillion City. Once defeated on their own turf, Team Neo-Rocket will retreat deeper into the shadows.
However, they aren’t truly defeated yet. Upon entering the Kanto hall of fame, you’ll discover that Team Neo-Rocket has reappeared in the neighboring region of Johto, and they are still dead-set on securing power through legendary Pokémon…
Now this one, isn’t an old one! In fact, I just whipped it up, you know with all the Mewtwo hype and stuff, I had to do it. (BTW he’s pretty cool in Sm4sh) I really like the end result and I consider it one of my best works for now! :)

In the most obscure annals of legend and lore, a mythical Pokémon known as Mew is said to have existed in the deepest, most unreachable glades and groves of the world. Mew was allegedly the first Pokémon—the original ancestor of every other creature of its kind—so when a fossilized hair was found that divination magic revealed to be that of a Mew, Pokémon scholars knew that they must bring the creature back. Too ancient for even a rare *true resurrection* to suffice, desperate chances were taken to revive the fossil with forbidden and experimental necromancy. After significant effort and expense, the spells succeeded—to a point. The living creature that stood before the scholars was mutated, monstrous, and bore little resemblance to the smaller Pokémon depicted in ancient texts. What happened next, exactly, is unknown. Some say that the Pokémon was evil and took pleasure in killing every scholar there before collapsing the research tower. Others say that the Pokémon, terrified from the shock of a revival gone wrong, was panicked and only brought down the tower by accident. Other, more conspiratorial minds believe that the mages among the scholars tried to destroy what they had created, and the Pokémon fled as they fell victim to their own panicked spells. The only certain fact is that somehow, the scholars’ tower fell that day, and there was only one survivor who lived to see the mysterious “Mewtwo” fly away towards the horizon. It has never been seen since.
Unsurpassed Psionics. Little is known about Mewtwo, but what is known suggests that it may be the most powerful Pokémon yet discovered. It possesses an unrivaled psionic strength and can fly, teleport at will, conjure walls of force, instantly recover from grievous wounds, and devastate the minds of humanoids. By using telepathy, it can even communicate with any other creature it encounters. Despite this, due to the unnatural circumstances of a Mewtwo’s form, it is theorized that it could mutate even further into an even more powerful form under the right conditions.
Note:The Mewtwo uses its Intelligence modifer instead of its Dexterity modifier to determine its armor class; i.e. its armor class is 19.
