To be honest, I’ve never looked at moccasins and thought - hey those are super cool! But then I saw these mocs and said - hey those are super cool! If you’re going to do tassels, then go big y’all! I would love these with tan, cream, pink and mint. Rock them with a pair of skinny jeans and tee and you’ve got your new weekend outfit sorted. Even better, the tassels aren’t permanent so you can swap them out and change the colours.

I’ve finally finished my Yasha inspired moccasins. I’ve had one done for the last 8 months and never got around to putting together the second one until now.
I had a lot of fun beading the Stormlord symbol, but oh boy trying to design the lightning bolts was an issue. I think I started and then picked out the design two times before I got something that I liked.
The moccasins themselves are made from Alaska cowhide split leather and are lined with sheepskin. The vamp (the top part with the beading) is melton and everything but the beading is hand-stitched together with synthetic sinew. It’s always amazing to me how moccasins come together at the end - before you know it you have a wonderful piece of artwork that is fully functional for keeping your feet warm.
I’ve been taking a break lately from crocheting due to a compressed nerve in my arm….brought on due to the amount of crocheting I had been doing >_<.
So in trying to NOT crochet I’ve been figuring out other ways to fill my creative needs, that don’t put stress on my current injury. Ended up taking a class at my local museum on traditional moccasin making and had loads of fun.
We learned how to create a pattern for different foot sizes, two needle bead and work with leather & fur. In the end I made a pair of moccasins for my partner, who loves the Stormlight archives. So the bead pattern on the moccasin is the Skybreaker symbol. It was fun to see everyones traditional flower patterns, and then my weirder looking symbol :P
There’s a very good chance that this Christmas everyone in my family is going to get moccasins. They were just so fun to make.
