Embroidered Cactus Shoes|Little Button Diaries

One of the most popular motifs of 2016 is the cactus, and I love it - they’re a fun, sculptural plant, and so hard to kill so they’re perfect for me! Haha! I sold quite a few cactus pins and I see cactus prints on clothing and just love them. These fun shoes are hand embroidered, but don’t let that scare you! The pattern is super easy to stitch and you’ll soon find yourself stitching all your clothing. Or if you’re not keen on cacti, try a mushroom, bird or abstract shape.

Unicorn Brick Stitch Pattern|Rose Moustache

So in my previous post I spoke about my new obsession, brick stitching! It all came about after I tried loom beading, then started to notice these other free-form patterns… colour me intrigued! Brick stitching can be a little fiddly, but once you get the hang of it you will be stitching beads and collecting Miyuki beads in a million colours… or maybe that’s just me?! Rose Moustache is the queen of Brick Stitching, and she has so many amazing patterns. I suggest you try an easy pattern likeher teepee first, just to get the hang of the technique, then on to something like this unicorn. There are lots of great tutorials on the web on how to brick stitch - if you’ve done Peyote Stitching before, it’s similar - and I promise you will become as addicted as me!

Every Winter I tell myself - this year I’m going to get a pair of gloves, I refuse to freeze my hands in the morning. Aaaand… every year I don’t and I freeze my hands. Not this year! As soon as they start selling gloves (ah yeah, it’s still about 100 degrees here right now) I’m going to get a pair and stitch them up. I like the tres chic message, though you can stitch up whatever you want (Urban Threads has some super cool designs - maybe your initialsorsome faux corsetry?)

Tassel Moccasins|Honestly WTF

To be honest, I’ve never looked at moccasins and thought - hey those are super cool! But then I saw these mocs and said - hey those are super cool! If you’re going to do tassels, then go big y’all! I would love these with tan, cream, pink and mint. Rock them with a pair of skinny jeans and tee and you’ve got your new weekend outfit sorted. Even better, the tassels aren’t permanent so you can swap them out and change the colours.

When I was younger I loved collecting quartz and other rocks. I’m pretty sure there is a box somewhere with all of them in there, along with my ‘precious jewels’ magazine collection! That love has carried through to my adult life, but this time in the form of pretty earthy jewellery. I like that pieces like this can be worn casually with a maxi dress or tshirt and jeans. Ebay and etsy are great places to find stones to wrap - for added glam try dipping them in gold or silver paint first!

With Summer finally making an appearance here in Adelaide (albeit a very short burst!) I am thinking about my Summer wardrobe. I’m loving all the pompom trim I’m seeing on clothes right now, so why not a pompom clutch? Perfect for taking down the beach or the pool, it’s big enough to fit all your essentials.
