Mokosh, the Russian earth Goddess, done as the Goddess by Request for July over on my Patreon.

She is known from the old Kievan pantheon; She is likely a form of the ancient Mati Syra Zemlya or ‘Moist Mother Earth’, and like Her associated with water, Her name coming from a root meaning 'moisture’ or 'wetness’. She is also a Goddess of weaving and spinning. There is a traditional Russian embroidery pattern showing a stylized woman standing between two horsemen that is thought to be Her; on such She is often shown with arms upraised holding a pair of birds.

As dark as the most fruitful soil, the Mother-Goddess Mokoš is the most adored and worshipped goddess of the old Slavs.
She is the wet earth and the burning Sun, bringing life to the Earth and caring for her children. Like all mothers, she received the highest respect and adoration from all people, for motherhood was recognised as the most important role in the society. To love the Earth is to love your Mother, and she will care for you in return.

What a wonderful devotion. Мóкошь, Mokosh, is a protector of women’s work and destiny, divination, overseeing spinning, weaving, and childbirth. She brought rain, fertility, and ruled over the dead. Her image was captured in embroidery unto the 19th century.
