New art of Boann, the Goddess of the River Boyne in Ireland, Who is considered one of the Tuatha Dé Danann. Her name means ‘She who Has White Cows’, and I’ve given Her cow’s eyes as is appropriate. It’s in watercolor, and the first piece I’ve done just in that medium in some time. I’ve put Her up on both prints (through deviantArt) and greeting cards (through Zazzle) if anyone’s interested.

This was done as the Goddess by Request for May over on my Patreon, where I posted pictures from sketch to finish and all stages in between.

I’m at 17 patrons now, and have decided to give away a print of my work when (if) I get to 20. That’s just three more! All patrons will be eligible.

New art of Nana Buluku, the West African Goddess Who created the cosmos, including the Moon and the Sun. Done as the April Goddess by Request over on my Patreon. Digital art, to look like a linoleum block print.

She holds a carved calabash (gourd), which symbolizes the two parts of the universe–this earthly world and the Otherworld of the dead and the Gods. Her daughter Mawu (the Moon) and Her son Lisa (the Sun) are in the corners; She is dressed all in shades of purple, as that is Her color. She is also associated with water; the fish on Her skirt are after ones on a carved door. Behind Her is a spiral representing both the cosmos (like a spiral galaxy) and the whirlpool that in some stories is the entrance to Her home. The designs of the spiral are after designs on adire cloth, which Yoruba women make using an indigo-resist technique. I put a circle in a square with some hints of equilateral triangles to imply a kind of cosmic geometry.

New art of Kostroma, one of the Russian earth Goddesses, done as the Goddess by Request for March over on my Patreon. She can be both a young maiden and an old witch; She’s said to fall asleep beneath a birch tree over the winter to be awakened in the spring. I’ve put Her in front of birches as She wakes up with the awakening of the Earth, with winter to the left and spring to the right; the Sun of the spring equinox shines over head. The style is after traditional Russian embroideries.

New art of Ārohirohi, the Maori Goddess of mirages, done as the November Goddess by Request over on my Patreon. She’s in colored India inks like the little Greek Goddess paintings.

Ārohirohi is also a creator Goddess Who made the first woman, Mārikoriko (Whose name means ‘Twilight’). Her husband is the Sun God.

I have put Her in traditional Maori clothing and jewelry; She has an authentic tattoo on Her chin, and Her hair is in waves like the atmospheric distortions caused by heat. Behind Her is the Fata Morgana, a mirage or illusion that makes objects below the horizon such as ships or coastlines appear to be above it.

This one is another of my series of l'il Greek Goddesses in ink (seriously the original is like an inch and a half wide), this time of Iris, the Greek Goddess of the rainbow. I’ve given Her hair like stormclouds, raindrop earrings, and the rainbow for a headband.

I plan to do one for each letter of the Greek alphabet (twenty-four) and then gather them all up in a print. Or maybe they’d work well individually as cards?

New art of Nantosuelta, a continental Celtic Goddess associated with ravens and the home. Her name may mean either ‘Wandering Stream’ or 'Sunlit Valley’ so I incorporated the two in the painting. Her cult-partner is Sucellos, the Celtic hammer-God, Who is associated with the wine harvest. It’s in acrylic and is about ten inches tall, and done as the Goddess by Request for October over on my Patreon.

Art of Hekate of the Crossroads, done as another Goddess by Request through my Patreon. This one was done in black colored pencils then tinted with acrylic inks.

New art of Ceres, the Roman Goddess of grain, done as the Goddess by Request for August over on my Patreon. The original is in colored pencil. She has wheat, spelt, barley, poppy pods and rapeseed pods (from which canola oil is made) as a crown.

Mokosh, the Russian earth Goddess, done as the Goddess by Request for July over on my Patreon.

She is known from the old Kievan pantheon; She is likely a form of the ancient Mati Syra Zemlya or ‘Moist Mother Earth’, and like Her associated with water, Her name coming from a root meaning 'moisture’ or 'wetness’. She is also a Goddess of weaving and spinning. There is a traditional Russian embroidery pattern showing a stylized woman standing between two horsemen that is thought to be Her; on such She is often shown with arms upraised holding a pair of birds.
