A bit of french folklore that might interest some of you :
Since the second half of the 16th. century, it is traditional to offer a sprig of Lily-of-the-Valley on the first day of May, as a symbol of good luck and happiness. But it must not come from a garden! You must go into the woods and pick it yourself. It is also customary to do so with a coin in your pocket : if, for the first time of the year, you ear a cuckoo bird while looking for flowers for your loved ones, your coin will also be blessed with good luck and prosperity. In some part of the country, instead of a coin, the blessed item will be whatever is at your feet if and when the bird decides to share its good luck with you. ^-^

Joyeux Premier Mai everyone!
