Color & Light
Story time: Did you know I didn’t go to art school? I took every art class I could from the ages of 9 to 18, was even a member of the National Art Honor Society at school, but somehow let myself get talked out of choosing fine art as my degree and my formal training ended when I graduated from high school. I won’t get into the how’s and why’s in this post, but I often wonder what I missed by walking a different path for a while. So I decided to finally take the mystery out of it and start dedicating my time to diving deeper into the topics that would have been covered at my university! Color theory, anatomy, composition…as well as more specific topics like character design, environments, and visual storytelling. I have a good foundation in these subjects already, but I’m really looking forward to gaining a deeper understanding. And this is why I’ve been a little less active lately! So drop a comment with books, textbooks, online courses you found helpful for these subjects! Bonus points if it’s a book you used in school and you didn’t sell it back at the end of the semester!
