LIVE

Hi, it’s been a while! I’m still in the land down under exploring, working and living. I’m sharing some photos of my recent trip to the South Island in New Zealand with my brother.

We flew to Christchurch from Melbourne, rented a car and drove all the way to Tekapo. I highly recommend renting a car. You can also stop on the way to do a big grocery shopping if you’re planning to stay in the hostel like we did.

We stayed in YHA Lake Tekapo for one night. It’s a nice hostel just across lake tekapo. This was our morning view. It was only autumn, but already very cold! Pine trees, cold weather and clear blue water reminds me of Canada. Simply stunning!

We left Tekapo for our next stop, Wanaka. Twizel is one of the most scenic roads on the south island. I can’t remember how many times we had to stop and take photos. The drive to Mt. Cook national park was picture perfect!

We also did the Hooker Valley track. I swear, I took thousands of photos! It’s an easy hike and I extremely recommend to check it out. It’s so beautiful and worth it!

Climbing Roys Peak nearly killed me, because I didn’t have proper shoes. NZ customs had to wash my hiking shoes. It was soaking wet I had to wear my Blundstone boots. The hike was tough and uphill. It was rewarding once you’re on top. I had sore and blisters after. I think it took us five hours, including lunch break.

Queenstown, the adrenaline capital of the world!! I will do a separate post about things to do in Queenstown. We spent three days here before flying to Sydney. Another day, another hiking and so much to do and see!

Making Mills Bombs

The No.36 or Mills Bomb was one of the longest serving grenades, developed during the First World War, it was manufactured across the British Commonwealth during the Second World War and after.

In this video we’ll use some brilliant newsreel footage from New Zealand to examine how the Mills Bomb (or No.36 Grenade) was manufactured during the war. We also take a look at the design and history of the No.36 which served for over 50 years.

You can find the accompanying article for the video here.

Things I Read This Week

So a couple weeks behind on this, but with a bonkers work schedule as soon as holidays were over and some ~crazy~ interruptions it has been impossible to give this space the kind of attention it deserves (but let’s be real, I’m not giving this space the kind of attention it deserves even when I am posting regularly). However, I do intend to use this space more, so back into the deep end I go. The…

A ver qué ocurre. Se ha ganado la anécdota del día, todo tipo de bromas que se han desencadenado.

Parece que a varias personas se les ha derramado el café y otros daños materiales similares.
