#ninjago crystallised

LIVE

-vagueness for the avoidance of explicit spoilers
-i’ve been with this show since primary school lmao that’s crazy

The amount of ANGST they could have given Crystallised is insane. I feel like there were so many missed opportunities to delve into the emotional aspects of the ninja. But no, we just had to gloss over it for the sake of bringing the tea together in the span of like, what two episodes? Ten or twenty minutes?

I liked how there was a mention of dealing with grief in different ways (ZANE for example, who literally turns off his emotions to avoid despair, or Jay who completely cut himself off from the world and surrounded himself with the ocean and water).

There were so many missed opportunities for such an interesting season (same with the previous one. Last season was GREAT. I loved the drama, the coup, the family discourse), but this season was taken a little too quickly.

The exposition was nice, but felt wishy-washy (because there wasn’t enough time to explain how each ninja was dealing with their grief). I know, it’s a kid’s show, and they also don’t get enough screen time to delve deep into such meticulous aspects, but it would have been extremely nice to see something more mature (?) deep (?) regarding a show revolving around fruit coloured plastic ninja.

I love this show. It’s great. I just wish they had more time to get deeper into the psychological/emotional/impacts of last season, or the previous. This is probably not the fault of the writers, as I know they have great ideas, more so, time constraints and the fact that Ninjago is viewed as, well, a kid’s show.

This, my friends, is why fanfiction exists.
