Elemancers redesign (again). Been thinking about how primeval elemental magic is compared to other, more sophisticated forms of magic. It’s just the manifestations of the raw powers of nature, and probably the first type of magic ever used in Oberant. So rather than using an instrument and playing a fancy melody to cast a spell, elemancers would simply use their voice and pronounce an incantation (or even shout!). To that end , I reimagined their equipment, with an amplifier around their throat.

Enchanter sketch. Enchantments are one the most advanced forms of magic in Oberant, so they require complex melodies to be be casted. Can you recognize the instrument I used as inspiration ?

I’ve been thinking about the idea of sound/music-based magic I came up with for the Warding Bell in Lugena, and decided to extend that concept to all types of magic, making it central to the lore of Oberant. I feel like my little world was missing a core principle to build around, something to give the designs a specific, intentional and cohesive look, and it could be really cool to build around this theme I think. So here are a few guild outfits I redesigned. I already have loads of other ideas that I can’t wait to explore ! Also I’m not a logo designer by any means, but I gave it a try anyway, hope you like my Oberant logo

Atop the Lugena castle hangs the Warding Bell. It’s rung everyday after sundown, and its echoes refresh the magic barrier that protects the kingdom from most monsters. Devised by the Crafters, it uses the specificities of Aruna magic (also called holy magic) , that propagates through sound.
For Oberant.
The King and Queen of Lugena. Most nations in Oberant are consitutional monarchy, where royalty is more symbolic. Although, even if their implication in political decisions is limited, they’re all Ungifted and act as safeguard against any potential Sephalan overthrow, as to avoid tragedies of the past and keep powers in balance.
Elemancers often equip themselves with Channelers, artefacts designed by the Crafters to help the user amplify their powers and protect them from the side effects of extended magic use. They react to Aether flow, and float around the mage as they cast their spells. For my fantasy world Oberant.

One of the most prosper cities of Oberant, Lugena built its wealth on the culture and commerce of Alabaster Clams, a luxurious sea food delicacy that only grows in the brackish waters of the Lugena bay

The Star Pyre gathers powerful illusionists at the service of entertainment, which is a use of magic some Sephalans frown upon. Skilled performers for some, embarrassing buffoons for others, everybody has an opinion on this controversed Guild. Word on the street is they’re also involved in some disreputable side hustles, but you know what they say about bad publicity right ?
Finding new remedies, potions or poisons, such is the Jade Circle’s craft ! Their research in Alchemical magic, generously funded, is also very confidential, and few know what they’re up to in their laboratories. But one can suspect they cook far more interesting things in there than simple ointments for apothecaries…
A Medorin soldier with a missing eye : a tragic but common sight, as fighting monsters often leaves a trace. Monsters can only be defeated with magic, so slaying them is considered a Sephalan’s duty.
