sugarcoatedvenom:

People often ask me how I got into Retro anime, and the truth is –well first off I’m 25 years old and I started watching anime very young so imagine I’m already starting off with anime in the mid-late 90s. You have to also remember back in the day we didn’t get anime as it was releasing, we usually watched anime that was already much older! I would also buy anime magazines and become infatuated with some titles and couldn’t wait to watch them! I was very in love with the idea of Ranma ½ when I was about 11 so when I found you could order it from a catalogue I nearly lost my mind!! It was a giant chunky boxset for season one and it was about 80 dollars!!! Anime was not so accessible back then!! I know I’m rambling but it was on my mind this morning!! So basically I’m not sure if “getting into it” makes sense for me, it was all just very natural!!

I miss all those “coming soon!” and “also available!” previews on every tape. I think those hyped me up more than any trailer ever released on YouTube.
