I feel that imposter syndrome within the autistic community is so common. We’re constantly told “you don’t look autistic” that sometimes we believe it. It’s okay though. You’re not alone in feeling this. Don’t listen to those doubts, and embrace your autistic self!
April is Autism Acceptance month! You want to be accepting? You want to be supportive? Be accommodating.
People will say they accept autism, and then berate us for being autistic. Don’t tell us you accept us when you regularly punish us for being ourselves.
When I get insulted by people whose opinions don’t matter to me I can shrug it off pretty easily.
When a loved one gets insulted by ANYONE I’m ready to throw down, Canadian style!
And this is one reason why I still wear a mask when I go out. I never know when a random coughing fit may happen simply because I suck at swallowing my own spit.
I verbally stim when I’m really happy. People used to bully me for it so I learned to be ashamed of it. Now, years later, my partner has helped me unlearn that shame, and embrace my verbal stims.
I hate going to the dentist so much! I had a gap between two of my molars that made it so I couldn’t chew on the right side of my mouth for 2 ½ years before finally getting it fixed. That’s how much I avoid the dentist.
No hate towards dentists though. You do important work, and I respect that.
More people getting diagnosed, especially when they’re still children, is a good thing! This isn’t an epidemic. This isn’t over-diagnosing. This is more and more autistic people being properly diagnosed.
Functioning labels are a common way autistic people are denied support.
High functioning? You’re fine without support. Low functioning? You’re not high functioning enough to determine whether you need support or not.
I’ve been accused of being in a hate group, as well as a cult, all because of my advocacy.

December 1951 is in full swing! And for the first time, GM has three in-character events (or activities) going simultaneously.
• The RomCom AU event is up and running if you need some silly fluff. We all understand the brainpower and energy it takes to be creative, and with things going the way they are, sometimes it’s nice to have the break of writing something low-effort. These are kinda like the ‘grilled cheese and tomato soup/comfort food’ threads
• Case No. 001 is live and our Aurors are actively investigating Claudia Stewart’s death. (There is still one temporary character left for the Case No. 001 event - Bella Barnes, a Chaser for the Pride of Portree and teammate of Claudia’s. Don’t forget, temporary characters are open to the public and come with no expectation or obligation to officially join the site after the event ends!)
• The Ghost of Christmas Past event just launched for those who would like to step into a time-machine and explore Christmas memories from their character’s Hogwarts days. Oh, and don’t worry if you have a Muggle or a character that didn’t attend Hogwarts - we thought of that and want to make sure everyone can participate!
Ivy Smith is the youngest of the three Muggleborn Smith siblings.
The eldest, Lillian, is the Muggle Studies professor at Hogwarts, and the ex-wife of beloved ice cream shop proprietor, Florean Fortescue. The middle Smith, Henry, was a Hufflepuff, married the Head Obliviator, and became the head of the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad. From his first day at Hogwarts Henry was outspoken af against the purist ideologies and agenda… and Voldemort murdered Henry in the Ministry atrium on Christmas 1950 to send the message that pro-Muggle/Muggleborn sentiments would not be tolerated.
Ivy is a character bursting with possibility and all the right connections… And possibly simmering with rage at the anti-Muggle sentiment movement that is growing in her sister’s world - a movement that took off with her brother’s murder.

Time after time, he struggled with having to go about his day in a normal manner only to have to put on a show for a group of lowlifes. The only types of people who showed up to underground matches were fetishists, those who had copious amounts of money to spend, and those who simply had nothing better to do with their free time. Theodore had encountered people from all walks of life during his time fighting. He noticed businessmen, drug addicts, CEOs, sex workers, run of the mill blue collar workers - any person imaginable. Many people would try to speak to him after fighting, but either his adrenaline ran too high for his thoughts to stop spiraling or he struggled to formulate words and string sentences together from too many hits to his head, though this was not typically the case.”
