“A soft shushing of leaves as they brush against each other, the breeze gathers all the delicate sounds.
Feathers murmur and shuffle, immersed in the green whispers of the treetops, in the companionable silence.
They watch from their comfortable heights. They gather in their misty aerie. What secrets do the treetops keep?”
I created this painting for this year’s “Operation Gaia” - for the theme - flock. Operation Gaia is a wonderful charity art event benefiting the Audubon Society. I’m honored to be one of the artists this year! This is my 2nd year participating and I am excited to be a part! :)
This painting will be available as a hand-embellished giclee in February as part of the auction!
‘The flame that blooms eternal, she unfurls from her dark roots. Where once there was cold and void, she sparks and there is new life. Blooming, she breaks the horizon, the cold ground softens and crumbles. She rises luminous. Her phoenix mind stretches silently and burns away the fog.’
I created this painting for the theme: Early Birds - for Operation Gaia. Operation Gaia is a wonderful charity art event benefiting the Audubon Society. I’m really excited to share this piece! It was a lot of fun stretching my wings a little with these bright colors. (pun intended :) ) This might be the first painting I’ve ever done with yellow or orange as a primary color as I tend to make myself much more at home on the cool side of the color wheel. But I was surprised how much I enjoyed this challenge of capturing the warm light of dawn - and that combined with the chance to paint a Phoenix for the first time - made for a fun jaunt outside my comfort zone.
This painting features a beautiful little blue heron and wild indigo flowers. :)
All of these paintings being shared this month - will be up for auction next month - including this one! This week’s theme was the ‘Birds and the Bees’ and the bees in my painting might have an extra little sting to them ;) I am so happy to have been able to set aside the time to do another one of these camouflage paintings - and I have a few more in the works for the future as well!
For Operation Gaia’s theme this week: Pecking Order
The Changeling Art Collective and the Bird Whisperer Project will be running an auction next month with all proceeds benefiting the National Audobon Society - where a limited edition giclee of this print will be available!
“Winging It” Art by Elisabeth Alba Ink, watercolor, matte medium, and acryla gouache 5x5 inches
I recently discovered the kea, found in New Zealand. Its colors are subtle at first, until it spreads its wings! Also, they are the only alpine parrots in the world! You should look them up!
This painting will be available for auction in May through the @changelingartistcollective for Operation Gaia, to benefit the Audubon Society.
Done for the ‘Night Owl’ theme of @operationgaia. I’ll be offering 8x10 embellished prints of this one in the auction.

“Rousing the Trees” Yellow Warbler 5″x7″ Oil on panel
This painting is part of Operation Gaia, under the Early Birds theme. A sweet yellow warbler sings his early spring song, as the trees wake from their winter slumber. This painting will be auctioned in February (will link when it’s live!), along with many other amazing artworks from many artists, with all proceeds to benefit the National Audubon Society. Now in its second year, last year artists raised over $4,000 to help our avian friends. Help us help birds! If you’d like to create art for Operation Gaia, see my previous reblog for more info. @operationgaia Is the Tumblr account for Operation Gaia.
