sinosauropteryx on a stroll!

A super quick animation I did for 1houranim over on twitter - the prompt was “Intimidate”.

(And yes I know these Carnotaurus aren’t accurate, this was just for fun.)

Last bit of paleoart for today, an illustration of a nanotyrannus/juvenile Tyrannosaurus skull I did for a paleontology class! Enjoy!

[ID a stipple drawing of a small tyrannosaur skull, illustrated from lateral (from the side) and dorsal (from the top) views. The individual skull bones are outlined and labeled in both views, and the fenestrae (openings) in the skull where matrix would have filled are shaded flat grey. There is a 10cm scale bar at the bottom of each skull, with the total skull length being around a meter. END]

Two background studies I did off of random stock images, both all in one layer. First is cretaceous (Maastrichtian), second is devonian!

[ID two digitally painted images, the first is of a rocky shore with a large cliff surrounded by foliage in the background. The silhouette of 3 birds can be seen in the background and in the foreground, 3-toed dinosaur footprints line the sand and amongst the rocks on the beach is a coiled ammonite shell.

The second image is a grey and green swamp with many large-based trees coming out of still, algae-covered water. It is misty as the trees fade out into the background, and in the foreground a small orange-brown diplocaulus (a salamander-like prehistoric amphibian with a boomerang-shaprd head) swims with its back and head visible. END]

Forgot to post these, oops!

[ID a digitally painted profile of the face of saurornitholestes, a theropod dinosaur. It has brown feathering around its face and neck, yellow eyes, and a grey scaly snout. It is illustrated on a black background. The attached video is a sped up progress of the illustration, starting with the skull, then musculature, feathers, and then painting over the sketch. END]

A Utahraptor is a rough ride.

Not sure if I’m gonna finish this, I couldn’t decide whether the head should bob or remain stable and I kind of lost what I had and am not totally feeling it anymore. :p

More dino fam. Trying different feather approaches.

Yes those are meant to be abbreviated ferns, I was impatient

I’m soooo behind on everything but I indulged myself with a little comfort-zone ballpoint pen dinosaur doodling just to make sure my hand doesn’t completely atrophy. Still thinking about story details for my Dinosaur Princess comic, which is on deck for after I finish Mementos!
