For the last day of MerMay, please enjoy this papercraft commission of mer!Jiang Cheng! What a fun commission :D

Before starting on the piece, I thought I might stick to a single fish as inspiration to make things more realistic. But then I figured WHAT is the point of making a mer-version of my favorite little fictional man if not SELF-INDULGENCE? So then I went whole hog (whole hogfish?): BEAUTIFUL betta fish tailfin! Dorsal fin like an EEL except not really! The blue shimmer-paper scales are BIOLUMINESCENT! His long trailing fins can ELECTROCUTE his prey! His tears turn to PEARLS, which he then uses to ACCESSORIZE!!! It’s a fancy and biologically nonsensical life for mer!Cheng.

Some Aang mini papercraft! I debated a bit on whether it made more sense to draw his arrow onto him (which is how I usually depict tattoos in papercraft), vs. using a paper for it. I used paper in the end, and I’m glad I did! More opportunities for pattern!

A papercraft commission of Lord Grim from Quan Zhi Gao Shou/The King’s Avatar! Since the different clothing elements in his design are canonically supposed to look kind of mismatched, it was a little tricky trying to figure out how to balance the patterns. But once I decided on the computer-chip pattern for his scarf, the other paper choices fell into place. :D

A papercraft commission for a friend of her dragon boating instructor (hence the paddles) with his family! As SOON as my friend told me what she wanted, I dived for the paper stash under my bed (a lot of my papers are too big for me to keep them anywhere else) and pulled out my dragon-patterned paper. I almost never get a chance to use it! Perfect opportunity! And I later heard from my friend that the family particularly liked that paper when they received their gift. Huzzah! :D

Mini papercraft L and Light! The teeny Death Note is about an inch tall, so it was a heck of a job trying to write on its cover, but I’m pleased with how legible it turned out.

This mini papercraft set is for sale, my lovelies! Please hit me up in the chat feature if you’re interested in buying it! [EDIT] Sold!

A papercraft Link! This was my little brother’s birthday gift. I waffled between making BOTW Link (his current fave) vs. OoT Link (the OG Flavor for us), but in the end I went with Ocarina, since that’s the game I’m more personally familiar with! I’ve never been good at games so Baby Yutaan would just sit on the couch to watch him play, yelling suggestions for how to solve the puzzles. Thanks for letting me backseat drive, baby bro~

A papercraft commission of Ashley Graydon/Eggert Benedict from The Great Ace Attorney! I had fun trying out various jaunty, hat-tipping poses in the mirror before settling on this one. ^_^ The client mentioned liking his cane, so I really wanted to include it in the piece - and I also wanted to include the hat, but without obscuring too much of his face. Thus, this pose!

Papercraft commission of Kagura from Inuyasha! This series had a huge influence on me growing up, so I always get a little extra thrill when I’m commissioned to make art of the characters. ^_^ And I’d never made Kagura in paper before, so that was extra fun!
