#paper piecing

LIVE

My small workspace when I am in the middle of figuring out some new technique - please tell me I am not the only messy quilter.

(No, I am not ironing on my cutting mat. I move it aside for that.)

My first time paper piecing.

I had to concentrate a lot and I thought this was supposed to be really easy regarding accuracy - but my blocks are off by 1/8 inch Maybe it is the combination of printer/thickness of lines on the paper/folding of paper/sickness of seam after pressing?

Nevertheless, I still like it. Just have to be careful during assembly of the quilt (luckily the rest is just charm squares).

Baby quilt: I’ve been working little by little on a special baby quilt! This quilt is hand-pieced and hand-quilted for my first niece or nephew (the parents decided not to find out whether the baby is a girl or boy). The quilt was made from the scraps of the wedding quilt that I made for the parents - so it has more meaning for their family!

Ihand appliquéd the English paper pieced ring on to the plain backing fabric and have been using thick perle cotton for the quilting. I will add a few more lines of quilting around to make sure it’s secure, then I’ll finish it up with binding. I think it will be super soft and cuddly for a baby!
