More chickens! This one’s a housewarming gift for a friend. No nesting chickens this time, just walking chickens. Which is your favorite? I like the upper right “red”, but they all look good. :)

ID. a photorealistic quilt of the wheels of bikes and their shadows on concrete. the shadows are made of a solid deep blue stitched to the background fabric, and the spokes and their shadows are rows of stitches. End ID.
Here it is, my oldest quilting wip! Pieced the top back in Summer 2019 and it immediately went on the back burner for the next three years. Partly because I was prioritizing quilts that were gifts for other people, partly because marking out the pattern was a pain (solved that with tailor’s chalk), and partly because I prefer quilting with thread and not pearl cotton. But! We’re on the home stretch.
Progress shots of the most recent quilt - started in January 2021 and finished this November! It took a weekend or two to make the quilt top and then the poor thing sat around for half the year while I worked on other projects. Finally got around to basting it at the beginning of September, and from there it was just two+ months of hand quilting each evening!
Got a new job at the start of October and things have been busy-busy ever since - hoping to get back to posting more regularly as I settle into the new routine!
Flying geese with pieced backing. All cotton, second hand fabrics (except the dark blue of the backing which i bought new for a different project), cotton batting. Corduroy binding.
