Massssks…so many masks!! Like many things, I need to get waaaay better about posting WIP and process pics >3> I’ve made several dozen masks so far. I usually ‘assembly line’ when making things in bulk, but for these masks, I’m generally making one at a time since I’m tweaking *something* on almost every mask–to try to make them as effective as I can. We’ll see where I end up.. eventually!

With my second mask pattern nailed down, time to mass produce! :> Mass produce relatively speaking, anyway – I’m a single individual so I won’t exactly be making hundreds >.o Still, I’ll likely make at a dozen of these

Mask with built-in filter and nose padding dooone ;D Quite happy with it on the whole. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with my first masks (with open pockets for a filter and nose wire) but I like that I don’t have to mess with removing then replacing the nose wire with every wash.

Almost dooone with my second mask pattern :> For this one, I put some stuffing around to nose so that it’d form a better seal around the nose without using wire. Fortunately it seems to work well! I hadn’t seen any other patterns that have stuffing instead of wire so I had no idea how it’d turn out >.o

I haaaate putting my face on the interwebz but I suppose I can tolerate it when half my face is covered. >.o

Hope y'all aren’t tired of masks because this isn’t the last of it xD This mask was designed to be quick and affordable to make so I can make them in bulk. It doesn’t have a filter pocket or nose bridge, but is fitted/contoured enough that it still forms a pretty good seal

Masks available for purchase!! :> I haven’t listed them on Etsy yet, but mostly just because photographing and listing every color variant would take ages D: So if you’re interested in one, just direct message me

Looking to get around $15USD for a single mask, but I’m willing to send them out to anyone who feels they need it, regardless of payment.

They’re each made with two layers of hand-dyed organic cotton jersey (what a mouth full!) AKA “t-shirt material.” They have internal pockets for both a filter and a nose bridge/wire.

However, these are NOT medical-grade and as much as I’d like to, I can’t guarantee how well they do or don’t filter the air

Hokay! So! Three mask patterns, and three not-quite-as-scientific-as-I-would-like fit tests. Fortunately, all three sat snugly on the face without noticable gaps (a snug/sealed fit is THE most important thing in a mask)!

.

For now, I’m going with the Korean-inspired design on the left. The other two didn’t quite pass informal ‘talk’ (it staying in place while talking normally) and ‘yawn’ tests (staying in place/being comfortable when you open your mouth especially wide). The upper-right hand (“Olson”) mask collapsed into your mouth on the yawn test, and I couldn’t talk normally with the lower right (“Clover”) mask without constantly getting pleats in my mouth. XD

And finally…mask pattern test #3 of 3! Not sure what to call this one exactly, except maybe ‘Korean inspired’? There weren’t very many English-language tutorials, but there was looooads of videos in Korean/mandarin

Mask pattern experiment #2 of 3! At least from what I’ve seen so far, this is the most requested pattern from hospitals. It’s called the “Clover mask” and it’s pattern can be found at makemasks.org :>

Mask pattern one if three that I’ll be experimenting with! This pattern is called the “Olson mask” and has been specifically requested from several hospitals. It has a filter pocket, but doesn’t have one in for these pics.

The pattern’s free online - just google “Olson mask”!

Working on a very different kind of project today - making reusable/ washable facemasks! O: Right now I’m experimenting with various patterns to see which one has the best ratio between time it takes to make vs effectiveness.

While I might make some fancy/fun/embroidered masks for sale in my Etsy shop, I’ll of course just be donating any ‘standard’ ones
