After several years of mealy bug battles (including lots of hard pruning), I’m happy to report my in-law’s jade tree is pest free - I’m finally comfortable touching it for the gram!

Shortly after staging this photo, I discovered a rather severe spider mite infestation on this Platycerium superbum - probably got worse because I wasn’t inspecting the plant daily. Plant stand: bought this in Singapore.

2) Anyway, for the past few months, it was growing nicely in this repurposed wooden salad bowl filled with pure sphagnum moss and held together with burlap stapled to the inside of the bowl.

3) Seeing as how the spider mites were congregating around the outside of the pot, I decided to remove the plant entirely and give it a good spray down outside with water. I’ve potted it into a temporary pot where I will monitor it closely. Rusty loppers included for horror movie effect (also because I couldn’t find smaller scissors outside)
