guys we’re going to watch this show like we’re actually going to watch it it’s going to come out we’re going to laugh at the stupid jokes and we’re going to cry at the deaths and even though we know everything that happens we will still follow the story like we’ve never seen it before and we will still be so happy to see these kids grow up GUYS YOU GUYS

If you told 10 year old me that Annabeth Chase would be played by a dark skinned black girl, I would have sobbed. I am currently in tears. I cant wait to share this with my nieces and cousins so they can see another smart and capable character that looks like them. This is so important to me and all of us.

am i mentally prepared to see Nico’s transition from being the happy-go-lucky kid who collects Mythomagic cards and acts like what a kid should be become the closed-off reserved Ghost King due to the grief of losing the person he loved most and the trauma caused by the mistakes he made out of anger and denial which led to him being forced to grow up early and bearing more than he should and having to wrench control over the destructive power he never asked for which consequently strained his relationship with everyone around him making him think he’s lost their trust and faith and familiarity and maybe he never even deserved it in the first place? i am so not BUT I’M FUCKING HYPED FOR IT YOU GUYS.

so we are in agreement that we have no problem with Grover being black in the trash movie adaptation? but we do have a problem with his personality being a completely 180 from the books and his character being reduced to a cliche comic relief sidekick?

The amount of racism Leah Jeffries is facing for being cast as Annabeth is not surprising, but greatly disappointing nonetheless. I’m glad that Rick has already come out in full support of her, and I hope this little girl has a support system that can help her weather this storm. She deserves to be able to feel happy about her accomplishments, and I want to see her prosper in this industry. The few responses I’ve seen from her (before racists spam reported her accounts, of course) are full of more grace and temperament than any 12 yr old should be expected to have in such an awful situation. 

I doubt this will get any traction since I don’t post on tumblr anymore but I’m honestly fed up because it’s only been a few days since the casting announcement and the overwhelming amount of racism has already forced statements from the cast and crew.
