People may think the Percy Jackson fandom is going overboard by defending Walker so early but as someone who saw in real-time what happened to those poor kids from Stranger Things, I’m here to tell you,

am i mentally prepared to see Nico’s transition from being the happy-go-lucky kid who collects Mythomagic cards and acts like what a kid should be become the closed-off reserved Ghost King due to the grief of losing the person he loved most and the trauma caused by the mistakes he made out of anger and denial which led to him being forced to grow up early and bearing more than he should and having to wrench control over the destructive power he never asked for which consequently strained his relationship with everyone around him making him think he’s lost their trust and faith and familiarity and maybe he never even deserved it in the first place? i am so not BUT I’M FUCKING HYPED FOR IT YOU GUYS.
so we are in agreement that we have no problem with Grover being black in the trash movie adaptation? but we do have a problem with his personality being a completely 180 from the books and his character being reduced to a cliche comic relief sidekick?

There’s all these people screaming about accuracy and how the actors must have this color hair and eyes and mustbe this ethnicity, race, etc. only for Rick to flat out tell them it does not matter. “But-but- Rick wrote them a specific way! So they NEED to stay that way!!” Baby Rick himself doesnt remember the way he wrote them
The grown adults in this fandom getting upset over Percy and Annabeth possibly being people of color are so funny. Like go pay your bills or something instead of getting mad over hypothetical child actors

this annabeth chase casting is so important because it’s gonna show black girls that they’re not just sexual objects for white men. it’ll show them that they can be loved, that they’re beautiful, just like princesses. this show is gonna have a white boy loving a black girl for her intellect and spunk, not just her body. i am so happy.

In the Percy Jackson adaptation, “Staying Alive” by The Bee Gees should definitely be played in some of the fight scenes. The song reoccurs throughout the books a lot so it would be really cool to have it in the TV shows too. It’d be a fun little Easter egg for those who read the books first.
I’m just so scared the they’re going to mess up the Percy Jackson adaptation. Like it can’t be as bad as the movies, but I’m terrified that it’s going to turn out badly. Like what then? I’ll probably get furious, then cry. And then all the hype and excitement would have been for nothing. This is just such an irrational thing that I’m just absolutely frightened of. Anyone else feel this way?
Not to add on to the trend of the commentary on the casting, but i’m so excited for the diversity it’s going to have! Not just one, but two poc in the main trio!
And it’s just they’re doing something so many other adaptations of this genre have failed to do. Divergent, Hunger Games, the Maze Runner, Harry Potter — most of the main cast in these are white. Even Harry Potter, where a good amount of the characters’ race was not specified.
But there’s going to be so much representation in this — think about the Heroes of Olympus series. We’re going to have two black girls, an Indigenous girl, a Chinese boy, a Latino boy, etc. This is just so exciting because it means that so many kids will finally see themselves represented on screen.
Hey guys, I had this idea a few years ago about a fandom event. I want to organize a festival with competitions and reading sessions for the month of August (Percy’s birth month yay!) and September (before the release of the Tower of Nero).
Here’s my proposal:
1.Group Reads based on reading speed and the number of books wanted to be read (individual discretion to choose categories)
2.Edits competition for video and picture collage edits. (You guys are so talented in these!!)
3. FANART contest (separate categories for digital and traditional art)
4. Headcanon and Alternate Scene writing Writing (didn’t like that scene in the books, well change it then)
Prizes would be cool certificates and perhaps lifelong friends.
This is an endeavor of a huge scale and pros are that we all can have fun and do something in our spare time. Stressed? Get a freaking certificate for revisiting your tween-teenage years.
I’m thinking about making this a dual-platform festival (Instagram being the other-cuz many fans may not have a tumblr.)
Also did I mention shout-outs? No? Well the Winners will get shout-outs on both platforms.
