Maria Jacobini with men on a beach por Truus, Bob & Jan too!

Italian postcard. IPA CT Duplex. 7360 Tiber Film. V. Uff. Rev. St. - Terni. Maria Jacobini and a bunch of not so heroically looking men, on what seems the studio version of a beach. What are they holding? Apples? And what are they frightened of? Surely not Alberto Collo and the bathing girls on our other card: www.flickr.com/photos/truusbobjantoo/51697408612/in/photo… In the later 1910s, Jacobini worked for Tiber Film, where she starred e.g. as a happy-go-lucky, wild young marchioness in La signora Arlecchino (Mario Caserini, 1918), who marries a young count (Alberto Collo) who doesn’t recognize her sweeter feelings at first. Maybe our two cards relate to that film. Among the Italian divas, Maria Jacobini (1892 - 1944) was an island of serenity, as film historian Vittorio Martinelli expressed it. She was the personification of goodness, of simple love. Her weapon was her sweet and gracious smile. However, in some Italian, and later also in German films, she could as well play the vivacious lady, the femme fatale, the comedienne, the hysterical victim, or the suffering mother or wife.
