hey tumblr it’s been a while but I had to return in light of the news that Jodie is leaving Doctor Who in 2022. I’m gutted as I’ve absolutely adored her era and everything her doctor has stood for, but as always I’m looking forward to whatever comes next and I hope everyone on here is coping okay with the news

Apparently this is a S13 filming pic although I’ve no idea if that’s true or where it came from. It’s just been doing the rounds on Twitter today. Either way I have lots of questions

I want to talk about Revolution of the Daleks but reports have been coming out that Jodie might be quitting the show and I can’t stop thinking about it. There’s no reliable sources so far and the BBC has refused to comment but I’m crossing my fingers that it isn’t true, especially considering how Jodie only recently spoke about how much she loves the role and how she doesn’t even want to think about what’s next.

I have so much to say about that episode but seeing as we’ve been completely blindsided by the announcement of a new companion I can’t really think of anything else but that rn

What does everyone think of our new companion Dan?

From seeing people’s reactions so far feelings definitely appear to be mixed and I can’t help but agree.

I’m excited. I love how a new companion has the ability to refresh the show and shake up the character dynamics and adds an element of mystery that we can all theorise about. From the breadcrumbs that we have been handed I get the sense that he has the potential to be really fun so I’m definitely intrigued to see where this goes.

HOWEVER, whilst this is absolutely not the fault of John Bishop himself for being cast in this role, nor is this something I feel that I can really hold against a character, the concept of a Thirteen and Yaz TARDIS team went beyond simply refreshing the show. For the first time in 57 years we could have had an all-female TARDIS team, one without a white male. We could have finally seen two female actors leading the show, one of which being a POC character. Doctor Who means a lot to so many people and this era has already been one that represents bold decisions, evolution and representation so I suppose the underlying feeling amongst a lot of people is disappointment. It has very little to do with the character or the actor that plays Dan, but more to do with the influence that the show carries and the message that it could have portrayed by choosing to let such an institution in television be headed by two women. Chibnall of all people seemed to be someone who would have done such a thing so it’s almost a shame that it hasn’t happened.

What I’m also worried about is to what extent this is going to hinder Yaz’s character development. Something that I think a lot of us were looking forward to was the way in which her character would finally have room to shine and develop on screen, room that she clearly wasn’t being given before. We’ve seen this this is possible in Revolution of the Daleks but I just hope that through introducing and establishing this new character of Dan , we aren’t going to see Yaz sidelined again as she used to be. If Chibnall can find a balance between two companions and The Doctor, then I will have no complaints.

It’s a difficult one. That all being said I want to try and not hold this over S13 and the character of Dan too much. All of these concerns are definitely valid but I will always go forward with an open mindset. I’ve never judged a character before they’ve appeared on screen in the show and I’m not about to do that now.

Hope you all enjoy the episode everyone. I’ll try and say some stuff along the way but if I don’t I’ll see you on the other side

Omg only two hours left to go hope everyone is feeling ok

It’s so bizarre that I’m pretty much sat here waiting to see if Graham or Ryan are going to die tonight like is Chibs prepared to break my heart like this? Probably.

I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since Sacha Dhawan’s Master was revealed. Such a mind-blowing twist that still gives me chills every time I watch it. This moment set such a precedent for what was to come in the rest of Series 12 and there’s nothing like being a part of the Doctor Who fandom when something like this happens as it really comes alive.

The chemistry between Sacha and Jodie is electrifying and so fun to watch and the way that Sacha switched from O to The Master so effortlessly is beyond impressive. Can’t wait to see where this character goes next as I have no doubt he’ll be back at some point

Happy New Year everyone! Here’s to a happier (and hopefully much healthier) 2021. Sending you all love and ofc Happy Revolution of the Daleks Day as well

Omg we really are getting one last episode with the fam tomorrow I can’t believe it.

And Thirteen and Jack are really going to meet. It’s definitely all quite bittersweet but I’m so excited

Ok I’m ngl what I’m not going to miss is having to tag all of the fam in posts because that’s a lot of names to type out

The no-spoiler reviews so far of Revolution of the Daleks look really promising. A lot of them mention how Jack acts a lot like a reference back to the past and how this is something that die-hard fans will like so I’m definitely hyped to see what gets brought up. Maybe a mention of Ten’s companions, maybe some Torchwood? It will definitely be interesting to see.

Also seeing what they say about how Yaz is given time to shine in this episode is everything. This is exactly what I’ve wanted from her for so long and it sounds like Chibnall is starting to establish what we can expect for her character in Series 13 so I have a lot of hope and am looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Not long now everyone

I’m trying to pretend the fam isn’t about to be broken up but we gotta talk about it at some point…

What’s everyone’s theories on how Ryan and Graham are leaving the show? I’m kinda scared that Chibs is going to break our hearts and kill one (or both) of them off, although I would still love to see what Thirteen is like dealing with a loss like that.

I can’t believe Revolution of the Daleks airs only in 6 days like we’re really getting Thirteen and Jack together I’m so excited.

Not looking forward to Graham and Ryan leaving though (as much as I’m hyped for Thirteen and Yaz as a duo).

Merry Christmas everyone ❤️
