#announcement

LIVE

Starting today, I will stop posting on this blog and it will become inactive. However, that doesn’t mean I will no longer post about Pixar altogether.

Indeed, I am now gonna be posting all my Pixar content on @thedisneyhub. Basically, it will be everything you like about pixarsource but on another blog.

Hope you will all follow me along for this new chapter.

Hi everyone! :) I’m going to be combining February & March’s releases into one post. Hopefully skipping a month won’t become the norm, but things are weird for us right now (as I’m sure they are for many people!) so it’s been tough to stay on top of this blog.

Hopefully we’ll get a GOTM feature out this month as well! Remember that you can send us suggestions for the feature here.

Stay safe everyone!

I’m happy to announce that Ask Suki will finally be returning this Wednesday!

I apologize for the long delay, I’ve been studying abroad so my timeframe for art has been limited.

ANYWAYS

I’m going to be rewriting this blog in terms of storyline - Suki is still the energetic chomper, though the plot of this blog will be much different! (Kinda)

Until then, I look forward to bringing this blog back.

Hey there all you fish swimmin’ around in the pond. If we could have your attention please.

Kayleigh and I have been talking and as proud as we are of all the wonderful work y’all have done and continue to do, we’d like to encourage a little more interaction and public feedback by bringing you our monthly Big Fish Awards.

There are so many members of this pond and so many new writers putting out their work so what better way to highlight and support them than to honor their work by showcasing it for all to see?

Each month our wonderful big fish will select a guppie fic or series that’s stood out to them over the course of the month. We’ll also be asking our big fish to reblog the guppie story of their choosing, tag us (@spnfanficpond), and lead by example by leaving some feedback in the form of a short 2-3 sentence “review” explaining what worked well and their favorite parts of the story. From there we’ll take down their picks and create a master post that’ll be posted on the last of each month with all of the guppie fics and the corresponding reviews for all to see.

Kayleigh and I would like to remind everyone that these monthly “awards” are not prizes or a means for competition or jealousy. This is simply a way for us to offer a little more exposure, public feedback, and interaction between guppies and our big fish.

Thank you and if you have any questions, as always, feel free to message the blog or one of us personally.

Thank you all for being so amazing! Have fun in the water and happy writing.

Miitopia Switch is right around the corner!

Just nearly less than a day more! I may not be able to get it on launch myself, but I’m still hyped :D

For the time being, I ask that you refrain from submitting quotes that may contain spoilers for new content added in the Switch port once it comes out. This rule will last only for a month (until June 22nd), and you’ll be free to spoiler-related quotes afterward!

You may still submit quotes related to regular Miitopia spoilers, but they’ll be tagged as #miitopia spoilers from now on.

Note: Quotes related to the horse and the wigs/makeup feature do not count as spoilers.

Due to tumblr’s changes banning pretty much all content on this blog, this blog will be shutting down.

This blog will be left as-is for followers to enjoy, but no new content will be posted. Come visit me over at http://mmph-mmph-she-says.bdsmlr.com/

Hey! Due to personal reasons, I will no longer be active on this blog. I love tumblr, your guy’s support has been great, but I can’t juggle school, family, and everything else along with this. I’ve been trying, and it just hasn’t been working out. Maybe I’ll eventually be back, but I really can’t guarantee anything. Apologies!

REALLY BLOODY EXCELLENT OMENS…

Many, many years ago (it was Hallowe'en 1989, for the curious, the year before Good Omens was published) Terry Pratchett and I were sharing a room at the World Fantasy Convention in Seattle, to keep the costs down, because we were both young authors, and taking ourselves to America and conventions were expensive. It was a wonderful convention. I remember a huge Seattle second-hand bookstore in which I found a dozen or so green-bound Storisende Edition James Branch Cabell books, each signed so neatly by the author that the bookshop people assured me that the signatures were printed, and really ten dollars a book was the correct price.

I could afford books. Good Omens had just been sold to UK publishers and then to US publishers for more money than Terry or I had ever received for anything. (Terry had been incredibly worried about this, certain that receiving a healthy advance would mean the end of his career. When his career didn’t end, Terry suggested to his agent that perhaps he ought to be getting that kind of advance for every book from now on, and his life changed, and he stopped having to share a hotel room to save money. But I digress.) Advance reading copies of Good Omens had not yet gone out, but a few editors had read it (ones who had bid for it but failed to buy it) and they all seemed very excited about it, and thrilled for us.

On the Saturday evening Terry left the bar quite early and headed off to bed. I stayed up talking to people and having a marvelous time, hung in there until the small hours of the morning when they closed the hotel bar and all the people went away, and then headed up to the hotel room room.

I opened the door as quietly as I could and tiptoed in the dark across the room to where my bed was located.

I’d just reached the bed when, from the far side of the room, a voice said, “What time of the night do you call this then? Your mother and I have been worried sick about you.”

Terry was wide awake. Jet lag had taken its toll.

And I was wide awake too. So we lay in our respective beds and having nothing else to do, we plotted the sequel to Good Omens. It was a good one, too. We fully intended to write it, whenever we next had three or four months free. Only I went to live in America and Terry stayed in the UK, and after Good Omens was published Sandman became SANDMAN and Discworld became DISCWORLD and there wasn’t ever a good time.

But we never forgot it.

It’s been thirty-one years since Good Omens was published, which means it’s thirty-two years since Terry Pratchett and I lay in our respective beds in a Seattle hotel room at a World Fantasy Convention, and plotted the sequel. (I got to use bits of the sequel in the TV series version of Good Omens – that’s where our angels came from.)

Terry and I, in Cardiff in 2010, on the night we decided that Good Omens should become a television series.

Terry was clear on what he wanted from Good Omens on the telly. He wanted the story told, and if that worked, he wanted the rest of the story told.

So in September 2017 I sat down in St James’ Park, beside the director, Douglas Mackinnon, on a chair with my name on it, as Showrunner of Good Omens. The chair slowly and elegantly lowered itself to the ground underneath me and fell apart, and I thought, that’s not really a good omen. Fortunately, under Douglas’s leadership, that chair was the only thing that collapsed.

The crumbled chair.

So, once Good Omens the TV series had been released by Amazon and the BBC, to global acclaim, many awards and joy, Rob Wilkins (Terry’s representative on Earth) and I had the conversation with the BBC and Amazon about doing some more. And they got very excited. We talked to Michael Sheen and David Tennant about doing some more. They also got very excited. We told them a little about the plot. They got even more excited.

Rob Wilkins and David Tennant on the second day of shooting.

Me and Michael and Ash aged nearly 2.

What it was mostly like shooting Good Omens: peering into screens while something happened round the corner.

I’d been a fan of John Finnemore’s for years, and had had the joy of working with him on a radio show called With Great Pleasure, where I picked passages I loved, had amazing readers read them aloud and talked about them.

(Here’s a clip from that show of me talking about working with Terry Pratchett, and reading a poem by Terry: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p06x3syv. Here’s the whole show from YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7OsS_JWbzQ with John Finnemore’s bits too.)

L to R: With Great Pleasure. John Finnemore, me all beardy, Nina Sosanya (Sister Mary in Good Omens) Peter Capaldi (he played Islington in the original BBC series of Neverwhere).

I asked John if he’d be willing to work with me on writing the next round of Good Omens, and was overjoyed when he said yes. We have some surprise guest collaborators too. And Douglas Mackinnon is returning to oversee the whole thing with me.

So that’s the plan. We’ve been keeping it secret for a long time (mostly because otherwise my mail and Twitter feeds would have turned into gushing torrents of What Can You Tell Us About It? long ago) but we are now at the point where sets are being built in Scotland (which is where we’re shooting, and more about filming things in Scotland soon), and we can’t really keep it secret any longer.

There are so many questions people have asked about what happened next (and also, what happened before) to our favourite Angel and Demon. Here are, perhaps, some of the answers you’ve been hoping for.

AsGood Omens continues, we will be back in Soho, and all through time and space, solving a mystery which starts with one of the angels wandering through a Soho street market with no memory of who they might be, on their way to Aziraphale’s bookshop.

(Although our story actually begins about five minutes before anyone had got around to saying “Let there be Light”.)

CLOSURE OF HAIKYUUCREATIONS

Hello everyone!

The blog team has come to the unfortunate conclusion to close down the HaikyuuCreations blog. The blog team has loved supporting the Haikyuu!! community and its artists of all platforms, but have ultimately come to the conclusion that there is not enough activity to keep this blog going.

This does not mean we will be deleting the blog, but rather we will stop queueing posts and posting to the blog. We want to let everyone know that this is not a decision that we made lightly, and a lot of thought went into it.

Thank you all for sticking with us and submitting your masterpieces to the blog.

Our discord server will remain open, however, so please join our community there if you would like to continue the adventure to the top! We hope you continue to use the server to share your works with one another.

Otherwise,we’ll see you in the server~

All of the mods here have been incredibly busy with school, work, and other responsibilities, and we don’t exactly have time to maintain multiple blogs, so this one got the axe. All content will be preserved and the blog will not be deleted. This just means that asks, submit, and IMs will be closed until there are mods ready to come back and continue working on this blog. We don’t know how long this shut down will be in effect. To those of those whose questions have not been answered, we wholeheartedly apologize. On behalf of all the mods, thank you, followers, for following, for liking, for reblogging, and for sending in requests. We had a lot of fun here, and hope to be back son to continue working!

Much love,

Mod Finley

Ughhhh. HPAI (highly pathogenic avian influenza) has made it to Michigan backyard flocks. It’s still across the state from me but that won’t last, and it’s been found in backyard flocks in several other states now as well. AI is a flock eradicator; if any of your birds get it, the whole flock must be culled and there’s a wait period before you can start over.

PLEASE bring in your bird feeders for the next few months to discourage birds from gathering together.

Even if you don’t have outdoor birds like me, you can help protect flock birds in your area by removing feeders and bird baths etc from your yard. This will help to slow the spread to flocks like mine.

If you are in the USA and have flock birds

Bring them in if you can. If you only have a couple, set them up indoors if you can. If you’re like me and you can’t, do your best to move food and water sources into the coops where wild birds won’t see them. You can buy bird prevention netting to wrap your run in, and tarp the top of it to prevent falling excrement from reaching your birds as wild birds pass overhead.

It should go without saying, but I’m gonna say it. You should also avoid going to places where others have birds (like auctions, swap meets, visiting farms or friends that have them), or allowing anyone that’s been where there are birds to visit your property. If you must have visitors, a 10% bleach solution in a tub for them to step in is the bare minimum of biosecurity so they don’t track it in on their shoes.

There are tests for Avian Influenza, which can be done without killing the birds. If you are concerned your birds may be showing symptoms of AI (sudden deaths, decrease in egg production, decrease in water intake, or other illness symptoms), you should contact your state agricultural department (in Michigan, MSU ag department and MDARD handles this kind of stuff, not sure for other states) and inquire about what steps to take to have testing done. They will be able to advise you on what to do.

Good luck to those in states where this is moving around widely now. I hope everyone’s flocks stay safe. Please feel free to add resources for your state if you know them. Many states offer free AI testing!

For people wondering YES if you have exotic birds like parrots this is still something to be worried about. And i would follow Kedreeva’s advice

Oh yes, waterfowl and poultry are the most sensitive to this, but it’s avianinfluenza. It’s been found in plenty of songbirds/passerines, as well as the birds of prey that eat them, and there’s zero reason why psittacines are excluded except that most of them live inside houses.

If you do have completely indoor birds already (like parrots or pigeons or finches) then you need to be leaving your shoes at the door (preferably stepping into a bleach footbath with those shoes before removing them), not allowing your birds down onto the floor (and cleaning floors regularly with something to disinfect), and not allowing your birds outside until this passes, which could be months. You also should not be mixing equipment between enclosures, and doing your best to keep equipment clean and sanitized.

This has been steadily progressing across the US as birds migrate. A small farm in upstate NY just had to cull their entire flock of 400. Hundreds of thousands of meat birds at facilities around the US have had to be culled. Turkey farms have had to cull tens of thousands. McMurray Hatchery just lost half their heritage breed flocks to a positive test at one of their larger breeding facilities. There are a half dozen cases in Michigan, getting closer to me. Iowa has begun a blanket cull radius where any flock within 2 miles of an infected flock must be culled, positive or not, to prevent it jumping.

New cases and the major culls that follow in their wake, are being reported daily, and this is still just starting. Migratory season doesn’t end until the middle-end of May. April has barely started. The total death toll so far is upwards of 15 million birds, and that’s going to continue to go up.

Please, please, please. Protect your birds, protect the birds around you. I am begging you to bring your birds in if you can; they will not like it but at least they will be alive to not like it. I posted this originally when I thought we wouldn’t be able to coop everyone, but I have made sacrifices in order to do so since, because this is getting very bad.

Stay safe. My thoughts are with everyone’s feathered kids.

(Current as of April 6th, 2022)

Reblogging to add that there is a current and often-updated map of HPAI case locations in the USA on the USGS site. States that do not currently have cases still need to be wary, particularly the closer you are to states that HAVE had cases.

This is the map as of today, 6 April 2022:

I also want to tack this information on to this main post:

HPAI is transmissible to cats and dogs!

Studies done in 2015/16 and since have found that cats and dogs can pick up this virus from infected meat (as in when they eat wild birds they have caught) as well as through respiratory transmission. Cats and dogs are not generally susceptible to LPAI, the normal strain in north america, but both were found to be susceptible to HPAI.

So, in addition to removing bird feeders and keeping any pet birds on lockdown as much as possible, folks with cats and dogs need to be aware of the dangers to their animals as well. Cat owners should keep their cats indoors or allow them out in covered catios only (you’ll have to read up and decide if leash time is safe, I haven’t looked into it) until migratory season ends. Folks with dogs should not allow dogs off-leash outdoors where they might be able to catch birds or touch bird carcasses. While HPAI mainly causes death in waterfowl and land fowl, songbirds are a reservoir species and can transmit it to mammals interacting with them or their carcasses or feces.

Please be careful out there. This is going to get worse before it gets better.

I know this blog has become very very dead the last few years, and the fact I had a few unfinished stories sitting in a folder was weighing heavy on my mind. So, this year, from tomorrow onwards, every day leading up to August 15th (because, of course), I have a new anthology chapter translation queued up!

After that, I’ll be able to finally “retire” this blog that I made a lifetime ago without regrets - I’ll keep all the posts up, but just won’t be taking on any new projects.

Thanks for your support throughout the years!!

So yeah, for anyone interested: Aug 5th-15th, 8pm CEST, 11 days, 11 stories.

Hi Fannibals, Mod Fishie & Mod Reggie here <3

As you can probably tell, today is a sad day for both of us. Unfortunately, this is our announcement that we will not be running a Murder Husbands Big Bang for 2022 or, indeed, for the future. We are both taking a step back from fandom as a whole, and in particular fandom events.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude & appreciation to EVERYONE who has come on this lovely, wild, and amazing journey with us, whether you were with us from the start of the MHBB or only just joined last year. You were our lights in the darkness and the cause for all of our happy cannibal noises.

Thank you for the feasts of fic, thank you for the feasts of art, and thank you for the joy.

Love,

Mod Fishie & Mod Reggie XOXOXO
