Title: Strangers in the Night Chapter 5
Summary:After suffering the loss of each their spouses, neighbors Red Forman and Kitty Halpert come up with a sleeping arrangement so that neither one of them have to face a lonely night in their empty houses again.The arrangement causes quite a buzz in their small town as well as within their families.
Red’s daughter Jackie claims she’s never seen him happier. However, Kitty’s son, Eric who is going through his own marital troubles, does not like or trust Red because of Red’s darker past. And though Red gets the approval of Eric’s son, as well as Eric’s best friend and Kitty’s adopted son Steven Hyde, Eric’s dislike for Red does anything but lessen.
Still Red and Kitty continue to spend their nights-and their days-together, and as they learn more about each other their bond grows stronger. Could an unconventional sleep arrangement lead the way to a second chance at love?

I just found out (or possibly rediscovered) that Red reaching out for Kitty’s hand was NOT printed in the script! It’s such a little but tender moment. My heart is all warm and fuzzy thinking about how that action and the ones that follow were added in by Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp. If you look closely in that scene once Red has his hand over hers, Kitty starts stroking her thumb over his wedding band too, again it’s the little things that make my heart swoon.
I had Noticed this *years*ago even have a headcanon about how this isn’t the first time Kitty’s done this, and I figured it was something that Debra Jo Rupp did that wasn’t scripted but finding out that the hand holding, the whole thing that stats it too was unscripted just melts my heart.
Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith did an amazing job at making the last only Red and Kitty scene a sweet and memorable one.
I can not wait to see them together again in That ‘90s Show.

Sorry, but once I noticed this I couldn’t unsee it.
The standing side by side, with the height difference. and uniquewallpaper. Their personalities kinda match up too.
And in S3, Hopper and Joyce did spend the majority of the time acting like a long time married couple like Red and Kitty, who were looking out for a group a kids, some of which are not their biologically but in every other way…sound familiar?
