Drew this ages ago when I purchased a set of 100 fineliners. I’m still very proud of it- Rest and Ricklaxation is definitely one of my favourite episodes. Once I heard the lyric “Ana on my shoulders and we’ll laugh away…”, this image came into my head. (btw I do understand what the song is really about)
I love watching this scene because Rick’s expressions are so…mild. He falls back into his cold, pissed-off look a couple of times, but for the most part, he’s just sitting there like an ordinary human being. No barely contained rage at Jerry’s dorkiness or desire to scheme his way out of there.
His exasperated sigh at Jerry’s dumb joke is actually endearing. When Beth gets onto him, he just stops and thinks about it for a second, then lets it go instead of pitching a fit. At most, he looks aggravated, but this is not the same bitter, hateful man from the earlier seasons.
