Liz has been Max’s tether to humanity since their childhood and as his body shuts down in the broken pod, all memory of her is wiped from his mind. While she and her friends recuperate in the aftermath of bringing him back from death, they know there’s a toll to pay: the destructive energy he’s bringing back with him.
When he wakes up full of the urge to destroy and with no memory of the people around him, neither Michael or Isobel are able to stop or contain him. Then an unwitting Liz walks into the aftermath…

I Know Him So Well || Max Evans Edition (Featuring Jenna Cameron and Liz Ortecho)
There’s an amazing duet from the musical Chess (Which, if you’re not familiar with it, is this fantastic musical with music written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus of ABBA, with lyrics and book by Tim Rice, famous for such musicals as: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,Jesus Christ Superstar,EvitaDisney’sAladdin, The Lion King, and the stage adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, as well as Aida andThe Road to El Dorado.)
I Know Him So Well is about two people in love with the same man, duetting about those loves, and holding love, heartbreak, and compassion all together. I’ve loved it for years, and with the line “isn’t madness…he can’t be mine” being thought by each lover, it struck me as the perfect song to showcase the relationships that both Cam and Liz have with Max, and each other by the end of Season 2.
This version is performed by Julia Murney and Sutton Foster (who incidentally starred in Bunheads with both Jeanine and Nathan) during a concert rendition of the musical. And because I notoriously adore the Parallels in this show, there’s a Malex/Miluca version performed by the incredible John Barrowman and Daniel Boys that can be found here.
