Mark speaking, please tell me how may I direct your call.

Hello again, Tumblr! Yeah, it’s been a long time. For those of you that never unfollowed me here, I wanted to let you know what I’ve been up to. To make a long story short, I have brought back my online oldies radio station, KoHoSo Radio 66. It is streaming right now but the official grand reopening will be this Saturday, August 26th at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time. I’ll be doing a two-hour webcast of “Cruisin’ with KoHoSo” to kick things off…and the show will be repeated on Sunday and Monday (times are listed in the video).

This opening show will be dedicated to klappersacks. For those of you that do not know, this great citizen of Tumblr who also ran xmashop passed away a little under a year ago when his car was hit head on by a wreckless driver. He was a big supporter of KoHoSo Radio 66 the first time it was online and it makes me feel very sad he is no longer here to celebrate its return.

We’ve all seen a reference to guitarists smashing their instrument after a particularly raucous song. But where did it start?

Perhaps the real question is, with Who did it start? The Who was the first group to gain a reputation for smashing guitars: Pete Townshend, pictured above, destroyed his implements many a time to conclude concerts. But this is blown away by Keith Moon, the band’s drummer. Moon, during the U.S. television premiere of the British band, loaded his drums with explosives. This had a predicable result, and the band had to be treated for tinnitus and cymbal shrapnel.
