The new cage has so many hides, yet they pick the smallest one full of holes.

New friend! He was in a tank by himself because he kept beating up the other gerbils. Hopefully, with some more enrichment he will be able to accept a friend, since gerbils tend to like being in groups. If not, he’ll get plenty of love and playtime with his new mama.

If anybody has any tips on getting gerbils to accept new friends, please let me know. Or, if he is destined to live by himself, what are some fun things I can do with him so that he can have a good time being an only child?

My little mouse friend Pepito has passed away. He was snuggled in his hammock sack not moving, even when I jostled it around. He was just starting to let me hold him and pat him for long periods of time. ):

Meet Sasha, my foster hamster! She is SO precious.

She is a big sweet girl with a gorgeous plush coat. She is shy and not sure about being friends with people yet. Sasha was surrendered to the rescue with her brother and two sisters. She’s the last one waiting for a home! She loves tunneling and running on her wheel.

Clover let me hold him the way people hold rats! He was rewarded with oyster crackers for his participation.

She did not like being weighed and instead screamed at me… I’m sorry baby!!! Luckily we got it over with quickly and then she got to go back to her cozy enclosure and she immediately started foraging for snacks.

ohhhh help she’s so cute. Meet Rat! She’s my second foster hamster, I picked her up today from her old owner who loves her very much but unfortunately can’t keep her anymore.

Rat is in her initial quarantine right now but will eventually be available for adoption through Tiny Whiskers Animal Rescue in Minnesota. If you are interested in Rat or any of the other hamsters at the rescue, email [email protected]

I bet you thought you‘d seen the last of me.

I know vanishing for a couple of months is not particularly polite but I had some stuff to work through. I‘m talking about pets crossing the rainbow bridge stuff. And sometimes you simply have to throw yourself a huge several months long pity party in that case. I didn‘t have the energy or enthusiasm to keep posting during that time.

So, we‘ll have to work through another few tribute posts and then hopefully I‘ll go back to posting more.
