why was this second episode of s2 so much better than i ever expected it to be? and the ending? oh my god

Euphoria (2019-)

Was I contemplating to post it next week, after the finale? It was an option, but then I realized that probably I’m gonna be devastated by, if you know the spoilers, you know what (if you don’t… GOOD FOR YOU) and decided against it.

Euphoria is a roller coaster of emotions and feelings, it’s hard to watch sometimes and morality is really an unknown value, but it’s also cinematography speaking breathtaking, how the episode are tinted in colors, how the stories of each character are linked and mixed, how, at some point, you almost disliked every single character. They are all shades of gray, really, they are half of the time dumb and can be a lot mean to each other, but then you just can’t help but keep watching, because they are hopeless and hurt too. I’m a lot of times skeptical about big shows, because a lot of times they deluded me and left me wondering what other saw in them, but not this time. Even though it’s really stressful to follow. Hope you like this art cover, because it’s really simple, but it took me days and I really like it now.

WHY I STRONGLY BELIEVE EUPHORIA S3 WILL HAVE A TIME JUMP:

In S1, Rue mentions that it’s 2019 at least a couple of times. S1 commences at the start of the school year so that would be the last week fo August or the first week of September. S1EP6 is the Halloween episode so we can safely assume that the first season ends sometime mid- November. The special episodes take place around Christmas of 2019.

Going by S2EP1, the characters are in the new year, 2020. In S2EP5, when madddy asks rue when she thinks cassie and nate’s affair began, rue says “about a month ago, right after New Years ”. This means that EP5 takes place early February of 2020.

Going by the fact that 3 or 4 episodes span a month of euphoria time, EP8 leaves us in early March of 2020. We ALL know what happens in March of 2020. In the final moments of the S2 finale, Rue says that “she stayed sober the rest of the school year.” To me, this is a strong indication that the show is probably not going to chronicle the rest of the 2019-2020 year.

Timeline wise there are 2 possibilities here-

1) Pretend COVID isn’t a thing, skip through the summer and start in the new school year.

Personally I don’t think they’d go for this option. I’m willing to bet my bottom dollar that S3 will be the last season so starting fresh makes little no sense. This also wouldn’t work character wise because Maddy, Nate, Cassie and Kat will have graduated already. Also most of the actors are in their early to mid twenties already and will be older by the time S3 starts filming.

2) Skip “the covid years”/ mention it only off-handedly and pick up in 2023/2024- this would make a lot of sense because euphoria would track better as a show about adults and also because they’ve exhausted almost every high school- esque storyline. The season would probably be a summer season though because all the characters would need to be together for the story to work.

I have a sinking feeling that j*les and n*te might get together at some point after s2ep6

(Also that the rich lady and maddy will hook up )

Didn’t expect euphoria to turn into Bling Ring and rue into spiderman but oh well, here we are
