Despite constantly talking to the younger Winchester, you’ve never met him in person. You met through a string of hunters when you really needed help with a hunt you were on. It was nothing special, but they had the materials and skills you needed in order to complete the job. When you called, you got a hold of Sam who said that they were neck deep in their own shit, but will send Garth to help you instead.
You got your hunt done with no problem, but that didn’t end the mysterious relationship you had with Sam. Every night, you’d call him and tell him about your day while he complained about his, and you’d bond over some family drama that you knew too much about. It became such a regular thing that you’d have to call Sam if you wanted to feel complete. There hasn’t been a day when you two haven’t talked over the phone despite Dean’s whines about how late it was in whatever motel they were staying at.
You hunted alone, and they were looking for one more to join their pack.
It was the perfect excuse to meet up with one another.
Two years, seven months, and sixteen days is how long you’ve been talking to Sam. You know everything there is to know about him, so you’re not so sure why you’re so nervous to finally see him face to face. You kind of know what he looks like through the descriptions of other hunters, but you don’t know for sure. You know exactly what Dean looks like since he has an online dating profile that Sam laughed with you about. If Dean looks so tall and muscular, and with how deep Sam’s voice is, you can only imagine what he looks like.
Is it possible to have a crush on someone you have never met? There have been a few nights when you and Sam crossed that line into the unknown, getting out your frustrations through a little dirty talk, but you have never stated what you two are. Yes, you’re friends, but could you be more than that?
There is only one way to find out.
Sam asked for your location when he heard you were in the same town as he and Dean. Without hesitation, you gave it to him, and have been waiting for the last two hours for him to show up. You know he’s working a case while you’re here on “vacation”, so you don’t mind waiting. It’s not so good for your anxiety, but you keep yourself busy with your phone. There’s a new game you just downloaded that has been sucking up all your free time.
“Y/N?”
You’ve just passed the level you’ve been stuck on for a while when you heard your name. You instantly recognize the voice it belongs to. You look up from your phone and into the eyes of the person you’ve come to love. Man, he is nothing like his brother. For one, he’s taller, more muscular, and he has longer hair.
He’s gorgeous.
“Sam?”
“Yeah, it’s me,” he smiles.
If you weren’t in love before, you certainly are now. As your brain plays catch-up with the situation, your legs are already heading over to him. You can see Dean in the background, waiting by his car, but you don’t pay him any attention. You run at full speed to Sam, jumping into his arms and wrapping all your limbs around him.
“I can’t believe you’re actually here,” you laugh with a hint of a few tears in your eyes.
“I can’t believe this either.”
His strong arms hold you up to prevent you from falling on your ass. You never had a place to call home, but you know that Sam’s arms are it. He lets you down, and it’s only now that you fully comprehend just how tall he is. He grabs the sides of your face and stares into your eyes, leaning down and kissing you.
This should have happened two years ago, but it’s better late than never. Never have you ever been so happy to kiss someone before.
