One of my favourite SarahBucky AU series was released this past November for the 2021 Fleur De Louve Month on Tumblr.
It’s a self-contained series that takes place during the Renaissance, with Lord Buchanan and his Lady Sarah.

Sam stands in the chapel, looking up at the stained glass and thinking about ends of the world.
Bucky stands just across from him. He’s wearing Sam’s ancient grey US Air Force hoodie and sipping solemnly from a juice box. Sam is thinking maybe they could put a tabletop in – convert some of those pews. In college he’d spent a week bartending to cover for a friend, and he wasn’t half bad.
“So we’re adopting four kids now,” Bucky says, into the quiet.
The chapel isn’t big enough for his voice to echo. It just sounds out, matter-of-fact, and Sam, already wearied by the inescapable, unchangeable burden of life, says,
“Yeah.”
Bucky takes another sip of the juice. It’s apple flavoured; there’s a little cartoon Macintosh on the front with its thumbs up.
“Okay,” he says, and in a way, Sam supposes, that’s the beginning of it all.

Because, Friday morning, and who doesn’t want a little romance in a garden setting on a Friday morning looking at Saturday in the near distance?
Sarah Wilson Headcanon
So many thoughts…
- Sarah has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and years of practical experience from having grown up on her family’s fishing boat. And she’s a gear head. That’s why she’s not skittish around his Vibranium arm, and can fix most anything mechanical, including the toaster oven Bucky brought with him from Brooklyn. She’d only had a toaster before he moved in.
- Princess Shuri, delighted that Sarah has a degree in Mechanical Engineering, sends her a manual and specs regarding Bucky’s arm so she and Bucky can keep it clean and do preventative maintenance between the times he can get to Wakanda. Included with the manual are special tools and cleaning solvents. And a card listing Shuri’s social media accounts. “Follow me! And tell your Intanda he needs an Instagram account!!”
- Sarah is teaching Bucky how to speak Haitian Creole. Her mother Darlene’s people speak Haitian Creole. (Paul Wilson’s people speak Kreyol Lwisyen, BTW.) Because it’s the official language of the nation of Haiti, Bucky is learning it for his work with Team Cap. (And so he won’t be an embarrassment to Sarah at Family get-togethers. )
- Whenever possible, the Post-mission Shower: She lets him scrub off the actual grime, and after he scrubs down she joins him (clothed) and gently scrubs the Fighting off of his back with “her” exfoliating cloth. Then she leaves the shower. (One reason being that tub is too small for two big, tall people to be messing around.. And if she lingers, there will be messing around.) The Post-mission Shower is one of their physical “rituals”. Touch as Healing.
- Bucky loves Sarah’s body. He describes her body as “lush”. One of his favourite places on her body is “everywhere”, but if he has to be specific? The small of her back. Her Other Cleavage. Once, when he was kissing her, his hand was resting there and then exploring, he subconsciously uttered a compliment about her buttocks…in Greek. She understood part of what he said because of that time the P&D was chartered by a group of tourists from Greece.
- Sarah has unaddressed Anniversary Effect Insomnia.
- Sarah has knife skills. They’re not assassin-level like Bucky’s, but she was raised on a fishing boat and in Darlene Wilson’s kitchen. Bucky will teach her some things to add to her knife-handling skills. They both hope she’ll never have to use the kinds of things he teaches her.
