I have this headcanon that MCU Lin Manuel Miranda reads about the showgirls in Steve’s USO show and is inspired, but feels weird writing a show based on it since Steve is still alive. Part of it is half written in his head already but he doesn’t actively work on finishing it.
A fan asks him publicly if he’s working on any other ideas at the moment and he brings it up but says he isn’t going to pursue it, probably. He’s pretty particular about making sure the history is as accurate as possible, and however well researched this story is, there is always the possibility that Steve Rogers could reveal more information to contradict whatever Lin writes.
Steve, surprising many, responds on his official Captain America twitter, saying he really enjoyed Hamilton and would love to be involved in this project. His girls deserve recognition, Lin could be the right guy to do it, and Steve wasn’t made for the stage like some but there are certain things about show business he does miss. He @s Lin in his tweet.
They end up meeting for coffee to talk it over before committing to anything. Steve shows up in his Hoodie of +2 Stealth, and he’s a little shy when he asks for an autograph–for Sam, see, they couldn’t wait in the crowd by the stage door without causing a commotion of their own.
They talk about the war, about the chorus girls, about what’s been written about them (not Steve, but the girls) since then. Lin sings a few bars of a few of the songs, softly, tapping out the rhythm line on the table with his spoon, and Steve is ever more sure that he’s doing the right thing.
Eventually Lin admits, “You know, don’t take this the wrong way, but I kinda expected you to be more of an asshole.”
“I get that lot,” Steve says. “All those posters, and the short films–they kept telling me it was good for morale, but I sure feltlike an asshole doing them, and that’s what everybody remembers first.”
(It ends up being a motif of the show, covering scene changes and transitions with little olios where Steve-the-character sings about war bonds, Meatless Mondays, and condoms. The real Steve, in the audience, silently laughs until he tears up at every single one.)
And while I’m thinking Zuko thoughts, are there fic out there with Aang coming back…say a decade or so later? (Ignoring the whole comet thing, it’s also late) With the rest of the Gaang in their 20s-30s and Aang as this child that is technically more powerful than any of them but also a child. I would wager than after a decade of banishment Zuko’s loyalty to his father is not what it once was (since Iroh has had all this time to work on it) and Katara has probably invented her own new form of Southern Waterbending. Sokka has probably come up with some absolutely wild village defenses, if he’s not out raiding with his dad, and Toph…well, she’s either run away or has gone complete incognito-noble earthbender, with a full on secret identity.
Katara probably takes one look at this kid and goes “Finally all these Mom Instincts can go somewhere!” Sokka is like “I have to treat this kid as a threat but also: goofball. little brother acquired.”
Zuko (who has at this point almost completely resigned himself to never going home, to always running the narrow line between being part of the fire nation and shunned by it) finally finds the Avatar. He gets partway through the first fight with Aang and finds himself about to launch a fireball at this literal child’s face and he just…can’t do it. He doesn’t understand how his father ever could.
Some realizations are had. Zuko accepts that he’s a traitor, and maybe has been for a long time.
I think Toph’s dynamic with Aang would be basically unchanged. Toph is like that.
FinishedSaving Tobey all in one day, which is surprising to me since I have the reading speed that’s like comparing a human running to a car at top speed, but I gotta say OH GOD WHAT WAS THAT ENDING!!
It wasn’t bad, could’ve been worse but really?! Couldn’t even end it on a happy note? Bittersweet doesn’t count!! Even if they were going to just say friends ending why make him so sad!! Ok ok, I know it’s for setting up a sequel but UGH! So much for tying everything up in a nice bow.
And I hope nobody misconstrues this as hate for the fic, the only reason I’m even mad about it is because I enjoyed reading it so much. I even have screenies of my favourite lines!

Stiles just shrugged and played it off, (“Yeah, mine too!”) and resolved to get his dad out of classic rock and into jazz—at least part-time—to cover all his bases.
Now, two months later, the music has become a constant in the loft, and no one ever asks Derek to play anything else. Stiles has become so accustomed to it that he finds himself unable to focus without the slow, sultry hum of saxophones or the triumphant blast of trumpets.
As he stands from the floor, where he’s been hunched over Peter’s laptop trying to translate the bestiary, the background music flows through him and his stretch turns into a little bump and grind. He’s about to laugh at himself when he feels a tug against his waist and jumps, startled. He whirls to see Derek standing behind him, a little smirk tilting his lips.
“Dude, seriously, a collar with a cow bell or something! I will superglue it to your ridiculous body!”
This is from the Autumn, but you’ll love it anyways, especially if Dad!Bucky and Bucky Makes A Friend are your kinda tags. Also, some glimpses into Bucky’s perspective on the fact that he’s white and Sarah’s Black. This one is on the zany side. Nothing sexy, just laughs.
Also, I think I got Cass and AJ mixed up. Or not. Working on it.

Thursday was Bucky’s day off. It was the day he had the house to himself all day. On Thursdays, he ran his errands, had his coffee dates with Perry, made sure that Mrs. Barker, the across the street neighbor, didn’t need anything. That Thursday, he trimmed Mrs. Barker’s hedges, for which he was paid with a paperbag full of peaches. He had no idea what he was going to do with them, wondered how many peaches he could eat before he got sick. Probably a lot.

Thursday was Sarah’s most unpredictable day. Prepping for the weekend rush could be exhausting, some weeks, enough to make her drink. But some weeks, everything aligned and just *worked*. This Thursday was a magical one — no one called in sick, the deliveries all came on time. She was empty handed by noon and decided to treat herself to a few hours at home. Maybe enjoy some time with Bucky before he left to DC for the weekend.
1) I love this fic! Bucky finding and learning to be comfortable with a part of his voice, shouting, through singing. And he picks a song that is in essence a shout from the heart.
And I love the conversation he and Sarah have about why he’s singing, and a little of his history.
2) It’s Adele’s Birthday! I am ever gobsmacked at the sound of her voice on the chorus of this song. It sounds like her heart just opens completely. No extraneous melisma, no screaming. No real acrobatics. Just…singing the damn song.
To paraphrase Sarah: “If you don’t sing along on that part, you just might be a robot.”

“They tell me you’re the king now,” Feanor said with bright eyed curiosity. “Is it always one of your responsibilities to welcome the newly re-embodied?”
The first sentence, Finarfin had to admit, was not wholly unexpected.

“Not always,” he admitted. “Time would not permit it. But I was eager to see you again.”

She had done so calmly and politely, and then, as soon as he had finished giving her helplessly concerned glances and left, she had fallen to her knees in front of her latest statue and heaved desperate empty breaths that refused of their own volition to turn into sobs.

She had thought she would not see him again until the breaking of the world.
Maybe this was the breaking. It certainly felt like it.

Why Finarfin’s mother was not also his mother was a mystery no one had yet been willing to explain to him. Finarfin had cited the Valar’s prohibition of revealing too much of his history.
Feanor suspected the look of uttermost horror on Finarfin’s face when Feanor had first suggested she be left in charge was closer to the real reason. He was not sure why mention of her was horrifying.
Maybe she was terrible.
That felt right.
He accepted it as a working hypothesis and moved on.
