Recently bought a sub to Schoolism, something I wish I did a long time ago. On the lesson of “Pictorial Composition” by Nathan Fowkes. Here’s a sketchdump of this week’s practice from photos and master works.

a compilation of the facial feature studies i did for a class- not very exciting, but i learned a lot about how to let go of perfection and let my brush strokes stylize themselves

Week 5 Schoolism - Painting a Diffused Lighting Set up in colour, Then Adjusting the lighting to Direct and using Adjustment Layers in Photoshop to create the new Lighting. The Pictures are in Chronological order.

Week 2 of the class, I’ve been trying some stuff

Week 1 assignment for Craig Mullins schoolism class. Really trying to find shapes and have graphic appeal. Now I feel like I just need to better understand where to soften edges!

This is actually a schoolism assignment i’ve been working on during my free time. I’ve been trying to getting better at drawing things like backgrounds and lighting.

Quick 1 hour painting from reference I did last night. Different from what I usually draw and post, but I also love to paint environments every once in a while what is something you’d like to draw more often?

I am ECSTATIC to finally announce my finished course! So many have asked to see my process + thoughts + more and I share it all here. I’ve worked for MONTHS to truly boil everything I know down and I’m delighted to finally release it as a full class :D
