Took my Laptop to the Beach this morning and Painted on Location, Came across a few complications where the lighting made it very difficult to actually see my screen as I was mostly getting my own reflection, and part way through it started raining. Non the less I was happily surprised when i got home and could see the paintings properly.

Here is my 20th piece since 2015 started. It is my 4th week in a row doing portrait painting from life. Sadly, there are no more long pose sessions in Montreal, so this may be my last in a while.

My second alla prima from life in Montreal. 3 hours, with an hour after inventing from my head, since the lighting situation in real life was no good. Harsh lights from everywhere, all the hair was lit up with very cool highlights that made her look grey haired, etc. 9 x 12 canvas panel, oils

I went to a life painting session yesterday in Montreal. Sadly there are only two sessions left until they close down, but here is my alla prima for it. About 3 hours, plus I somehow spent an hour after painting the background. It was really fun (and expensive due to the speeding ticket I got on the way there haha)!

An oil painting of my friend, done on a 11 x 14 Belgian Linen Fredrix panel. The fantasy was that I was going to paint it quickly in 2.5 hours, simulating a painting from life class. 22 hours later this is what came of it

Painted a Tucan from a friend’s Costa Rica vacation photo that I cropped and digitally painted on to make into a better piece of reference. Done in one intense non-stop sitting on a 9 x 12 canvas panel.
