More ideas for the JTTW Sonic Storybook game! Please know that I don’t have the skill, equipment, team, resources, nor ingenuity like a lot of brilliant minds in the world, especially folks capable of making fan games. If anyone does want to try making a fan game of this or hell even Sega sees this and think of using it, then go ahead!


People can do incredible things when they put their mind, dedication and heart into it.


Anywho, back to the ideas! I did come up with a name for the game alongside some other stuff. Sonic Storybook games usual have their revolve around a key item or character. Such as the Secret Rings in Sonic and the Secret Rings or the Black Knight in Sonic and the Black Knight. So…


Sonic and the Forbidden Scripture


The Forbidden Scripture is an item of great power and the cause for the magical mayhem going on in Journey To The West storybook. It was sealed away in fear of shredding or even merging the dimensional boundaries of both realities. However someone managed to break the seal unleashing all sorts of chaos!


The seal used on the Forbidden Scripture broke into 8 pieces that Sonic and the JTTW must collect in order to stop this outta control magic.


Some bosses in the main game will have a piece of the seal or will block your way to the next piece and important areas. Be warned that not all members of the group can fight every opponent easily. There are bosses that certain party members are effective or ineffective against. Everyone must work together and you need to plan things out if you don’t want to lose.


Bosses in the Mind Palace will be enemies from Sonic’s past. These bosses guard optional transformations our blue blur can use for Alter Incarnation. The Wisp Transformations merge into a brand form called Spectrum Sonic! This new form can switch into different color variants capable of using all sorts of attacks.


Another optional transformation is Dark Sonic! By balancing negative energy with his heroic heart, this form of Sonic can use powerful dark element attacks to devastate opponents.


The last new optional transformation is Burning Sonic, a form created if Sonic used the powers of the Sol Emeralds. Incredible fire manipulation capable of burning his enemies into a crisp and leave trails of hot flame.


Now here are the Mind Palace bosses and the Transformations they guard! I’ll warn you that some of these bosses will have their difficultly revved up! Those that do will have a hedgehog emoji beside it


Egg King- Super Sonic


The penultimate boss of Sonic Rush. This metal menace threatens to destroy you on the falling space station with harsh slams, lasers and even an instakill attack so stay on your toes!


Defeating Egg King grants the Super Sonic transformation! This form comes with flight, invulnerability and deflects attacks in the price of rings! Make sure you have a bunch or you might power down at the worst time!


Special Dialogue- Sun Wukong


Dark Gaia Phoenix- Werehog


The possessed guardian of Chun-nan’s Chaos Temple and the Werehog’s first boss encounter! This bird’s flames will prevent you from attacking up close so dose it with water! Be careful as Dark Gaia Phoenix will try to stop you with a barrage of flaming feathers and burning shockwaves.


Defeat Dark Gaia Phoenix to acquire the Werehog transformation! This form not only grants incredible power and durability but also stretchy limbs to handle faraway foes. Despite losing your superspeed, now Sonic can climb without help from Sun Wukong. Be wary as heavenly attacks will power you down!


Special Dialogue- Tripitaka/Tang Sanzang


Big Arms- Hyper Sonic


The final boss of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and it’s alternative version, Sonic and Knuckles 3. It guards the Hyper Sonic transformation and has much more attacks than its original counterpart. Be wary of shockwave slams, powerful fists destroying the stage and grapples that can one shot characters who aren’t durable on the level of Sun Wukong.


Beating Big Arms grants the Hyper Sonic transformation, a form much faster and stronger than Super Sonic. Don’t get too cocky as Hyper Sonic consumes rings just like Super and crushing hazards will one shot you. Unlike Super Sonic, a prompt will emerge that can save you from being crushed if done correctly.


Special Dialogue- Sha Wujing/Sandy


Nega Mother Wisp- Spectrum Sonic


The true final boss of DS Sonic Colors and guard for the Spectrum Sonic transformation. This corrupted Mother Wisp prefers to keep her distance and attack with nasty projectiles like Nega Wisps, lasers or meteors so you have to bring the fight to her! Be careful as she’ll try to smack Sonic away from her weak spots.


Beating her unlocks Spectrum Sonic! This form is quite powerful but don’t overuse it. Spectrum Sonic has a special gauge that drains when using a color power and once the gauge is empty, he’ll power down. You can however spend the gauge for a powerful Final Color Blaster to deal devastating damage so choose wisely when to unleash it.


Special Dialogue-Bai Long Ma/White Dragon Horse


Erazor Djnn- Darkspine Sonic


The final boss of Sonic and the Secret Rings but also guard for the Darkspine transformation. This evil djinn is quite dangerous from afar with magical slashes and energy blasts. You have to get in close but be careful as he’ll try to counter your attacks with his blade! Look for an opening and strike before it closes!


Beating him unlocks Darkspine Sonic. This incomplete form created by the Rings of Hatred, Sadness and Rage give Sonic enormous power but also a more vengeful view. His lack of durability is made up with powerful soul attacks alongside the ability to stop time or increase his speed expontially. Countering opponents with Darkspine allows for a devastating revenge attack that’s capable of blasting off ¼th of a boss’s health bar if timed right.


Special Dialogue- Zhu Bajie/Pigsy


King Arthur- Excalibur Sonic


The main antagonist of Sonic and the Black Knight but also guardian of the Excalibur Sonic transformation. This corrupted visage of King Arthur is more real and dangerous than his in-game counterpart. He’ll take the fight STRAIGHT to you, attempting to run Sonic through with his blade.


Be on the lookout though cause if you don’t parry his charge, then he’ll attack with energy spears and barrel at you much faster for a second attempt! Knock him off his horse so you can take him down in a true sword fight! Be wary as his sword swings do much more damage without his noble steed.


Beating him earns you Excalibur Sonic! This hedgehog can unleash sword beams with a more swing of Excalibur that can pierce through even shields! Fill up his Soul Charge gauge to let loose a powerful attack that can cause massive damage over a wide range. Don’t get cocky as using the Soul Charge will revert you back to normal and taking damage will drop it faster.


Special Dialogue-Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie/Pigsy


Iblis- Dark Sonic


The incomplete evil and boss of the infamous Sonic 06. This lava beast is much stronger than it’s other counterpart and guards the Dark Sonic transformation. It’ll tend to stay out of range so you must goad it to charging you by deflecting its energy blasts or firing boulders littered around the battlefield.


Once it charges at you, make sure to strike the weak point or risk losing a good chunk of your health and rings! Be on guard as each strike will make Iblis cause lava waves that swallow what small amount of walking room you have. Touching the lava in the arena is an instant game over.


Beating Iblis grants Sonic the Dark Sonic transformation. This new form is much more destructive than his Super counterpart. His attacks have a vampiric effect, healing Sonic as he blasts opponents with darkness.


This form also comes with some stealth options by sinking into shadows to avoid getting spotted or devastating sneak attacks. Be careful as heavenly attacks will power you down!


Special Dialogue- Sha Wujing/Sandy


Egg Wizard- Burning Sonic


The true final boss of Sonic Rush Adventure and guardian of the Burning Sonic transformation. You will have to pursue this mechanical mage on the back of Bai Long Ma if you don’t have a flying transformation. Egg Wizard will blast you with fiery dragons, energy blasts and even missiles to keep our heroes from getting close.


Some of these projectiles can be deflected so fire those back! Deal enough damage and you can stun Egg Wizard, make sure you use this chance to deliver a devastating blow!


Beating Egg Wizard unlocks Burning Sonic. This pyro kinetic hedgehog grows stronger with each successful attack! His flames can burn through anything, even opponents’ shields! In fact, Burning Sonic has a chance of inflicting immobilized status to guard enemies! Be careful as you will burn out if hit by water or a critical attack!

Hey guys, does anyone remember the Sonic storybook games? If you guys don’t know, the storybook games are Sonic the Hedgehog titles that embody elements of actual established stories. Examples being Sonic and the Secret Rings which went through the 101 Arabian Nights.



Also Sonic and the Black Knight which centers around the tale of King Arthur.



So, if they make another storybook game, you know what would be a good one to do next? Journey To The West!



This tale being one of the most popular and influential in China. It centers around a Buddhist Monk and his disciples on a journey to India in search for holy scriptures. Of course, people learn about it through one of its more memorable characters, Sun Wukong the Monkey King.


Trust me when I say that a majority of people learn about this story via the Monkey King. I’d being lying if I say I didn’t either.


Anywho back onto the topic at hand, Sonic the Hedgehog videogame with focus on Journey To The West! Now how does our Blue Blur end up in this magical situation?


In the previous games, he was actually summoned to help but in my opinion a different route could be better. Demons tend to mess with powerful magic in search of power or immortality so why not have one stir up trouble using a forbidden magic?


Sonic is accidentally drawn into the book world through this spell along with other things that don’t belong. Another issue is that our hedgehog is literally on his own. No alternate book version of his companions or any real allies from his world. It’s only him and the Journey To The West crew who end up finding him.


This spell only brings a lot of trouble for the group as now they have to face not only demons or other immortals but things from Sonic’s world that’s been pulled in as well. Bosses ranging from demon, heavenly, magical and mechanical which stands in their way of stopping the magic mayhem before things escalate further but also get our blue blur back home.


Doesn’t help that he looks off as I want a sort of Into the Spiderverse situation for appearances. The entire world looks more similar to Hero is Back or Monkey King Reborn graphic wise.


Gameplay wise, I think it should be a mix of open world platformer with the team mechanics from Sonic Heroes alongside the team attack skills from Sonic Chronicles and maybe some sections being a wild beat em up like in Sonic Unleashed.


Sonic has to work together with the JTTW crew to get through certain areas, bypass obstacles or defeat dangerous bosses that he normally couldn’t do on his own. Every member having a unique skill to help out.


Sonic’s super speed being able to get pass timed gates or sneak past guard spots. Sun Wukong having a climbing ability but also use his staff to reach far away areas. Tripitaka being able to decipher unreadable texts and using protection sutras to protect against environmental hazards. Sha Wujing (Sandy) being able to explore underwater or flooded areas. Zhu Bajie (Pigsy) sniffing out collectables or hidden items. Even the White Dragon Horse (Bai Long Ma) allows for fast travel and usage of his dragon form for aerial stages.


A new addition can be a Support Conversation system. Our hedgehog hero building bonds with the group boosting the chances of new Team Attacks, Combat Skills, and all kinds of perks.


We can’t forget about special powers either. For this, I’m thinking of something similar to the 72 Transformations called Alter Incarnation. A transformation ability allowing Sonic to transform into various creatures or even objects. Some optional transformations can only be unlocked by facing special bosses from Sonic’s past adventures in the Mind Palace.


The Mind Palace acting like a challenge mode and a way to upgrade Sonic’s abilities or items. Maybe even view cutscenes or different collectibles. It can even act as a menu of sorts.


Anyway, these optional transformations can range from Wisps to even locked forms such as the Werehog or Darkspine Sonic. Of course, you can either go alone or with one ally from the crew. Unique commentary being an extra bonus depending on what boss you choose and ally you bring in to help you.


For possible boss battles in the main game, I think the about various opponents our crew faced on their Journey To The West and some unexpected ones than just new Sonic bosses. Clash against Bull Demon King (or Demon Bull King to those in the west), exorcise the White Bone Spirit, find out the imposter with the Six Eared Macaque and maybe fend off an assault from Erlang Shen.


As area/levels, a blend of places from the JTTW like Mount Huagao (Flower Fruit Mountain), Land of Women, Sea Dragon Palace or even the Celestial Realms, new levels originally from Sonic’s world and even areas that are a mixture of both to show the growing threat of this outta control magic.


Rating wise, I say Teen just so Sonic gets a chance to either swear or at least one F bomb. Shadow was able to swear in that edgy ass Shadow the Hedgehog game so why not the Blue Blur? Plus the Monkey King is most likely not to stay PG either.
