To repent for his arrogance, Sun Wukong offers the Buddha to guard the monk Tang Sanzang’s pilgrimage. Expecting some troublemaking, the Buddha gifts the monk an irremovable circlet; with a special sutra, it can tighten around Sun Wukong’s head!

Sound like InuYasha? Osuwari!

Here are a bunch of illos from that picture book I did about the Chinese Legend of the Monkey King. I had so much fun playing with color on this book.

The book is bilingual. The story is told in English and Chinese on each page.

If you want to pick it up you can find it HEREorHERE.

So hear me out- Sun Wukong but either he never got banished by Patriarch Puti or Patriarch Puti forgave him earlier on

My pre-pilgrimage designs have been long overdue for a revamp

Something something history not repeating but rhyming or whatever

Y'know what with how effective of a teacher Patriarch Puti proved to be, it’s remarkable Sun Wukong didn’t end up running into any of his old classmates during the pilgrimage

Naan stealer

I drew him in so many outfits

but only now I will have an opportunity to dress him in sth new in game.

Gotta be sure it fits his cape ;3

Dance lesson

That one time Monkey King and Viktoria got an idea to explore the city.

At night, jumping from roof to roof. And then on top of that they decided to dance.

Very reprehensible.

They had a blast.

Monkey King being akward at the fancy setting.

I think I made a decision on how to dress Monkey King for offical occasions.

Rambunctious, tall, Druid Tiger Woman is the worst kind of infestation!

For Monkey King at least….

Handsome Asian Dicky Cheung played the Monkey King Sun Wukong in the 1990s TVB adaptation of Journey to the West. Everyone I knew used to watch it and then we’d go to school and pretend to be Sun Wukong using the class mop.

Jade Monkey King

The Monkey King is a main character in the classical Chinese epic novel Journey to the West. In the novel, he is a monkey born from a stone who acquires supernatural powers through Taoist practices. After rebelling against heaven and being imprisoned under a mountain by the Buddha, he later accompanies the monk Xuanzang on a journey to retrieve Buddhist sutras from India.
