Working on a cool design to put into my new fancy copy of The Princess Bride novelization. Meeting Carey Elwes again in a few weeks so I’m gonna have him sign it :3
Finally tried a new makeup test for my Witcher 3 Geralt cosplay that I’m debuting next month at Motor City Comic Con. That look will also have a new wig (this is Netflix Geralt for the try bc my hair is blue lol), collodion scars, and facial hair prosthetics.

Last night I finally finished building the chainmail portion of my Geralt of Rivia costume. This process included building the chainmail from 3/8” aluminum rings, and then hand-stitching each section to pads I made out of EVA foam and pleather. It has taken me over a year to get to this point and magically, I used exactly three spools of black thread to do so (last thread came from the empty spool pictured above the armor). Now to give my hands a rest today (the callouses are so real and angry lol and my very bones are tired) and plan the next step for the leather edges and detailing on top to turn these babies into actual pauldrons!

This one is my take on Earthling. Easily the most fun of the three to come up with and to paint. I love the music video for Little Wonder and wanted to draw on the themes and vibes of that one to create this. David being followed by the aliens of his past, doing alieny stuff in public and how that affects his current self. I love the flow of expressions. Tommy being weird and probably feeling the negative effects of traveling on a speeding subway train. Ziggy like “so..like..what’s your problem, man?”, David like “please stop talking to me ”.
One of my favorite parts of working on this one was the textures. Ziggy’s glittering jumpsuit, the reflection on the floor, the spray paint graffiti on the station wall outside the train car’s window, Tommy’s hair, etc, it all just felt like it came together so naturally and fun. I had a lot of fun adding little lyric details, finding little ways to drop them into the scenery naturally. I can’t even say I have a favorite Bowie in this piece. Which one is your favorite?
Finally finished my Geralt of Rivia cosplay from Witcher 3! And even more added fun, my sister finished her Dandelion, and we were a fantastic set at Motor City Comic Con! Got in a few rounds of Gwent, Leah (my sister) strummed her lute and tossed coins at all other witchers we saw, and all around had a blast!
I have another event coming up tomorrow where I’ll be dressed as Geralt, so I decided to take another crack at the beard makeup and am much much happier with the results (first two pics). Looking forward to posting pics from the event tomorrow!!
