Hc that Meta knight needs glasses but refuses to wear them,

whenever he’s handed something to read he passes it off and says “I haven’t got the time for reading, give me a summary” to his crew or just flat out lies instead of just grabbing his glasses to read 3 sentences

He’s embarrassed about needing glasses

theory: Azulon didn’t order Ozai to kill Zuko. he ordered him to kill Azula

we don’t get to see onscreen what Azulon actually says. Ozai (who was there) and Azula (who was eavesdropping) are the only ones who ever relay this information to us and to the other characters. the only thing we the audience, as well as Zuko, get to hear is Azulon telling Ozai, “Your punishment has scarcely begun!” which seems to me that he was thinking up something truly nasty to do to Ozai.

Azulon didn’t look impressed during either Zuko or Azula’s firebending displays, suggesting he doesn’t really favor either of them. so he probably doesn’t have a personal reason to choose one kid to die instead of the other. Ozai, on the other hand, very obviously does, which Azulon probably would’ve picked up on by that point.

so, why order him to kill Zuko? it doesn’t really seem like that much of a punishment, given that Ozai has just shown he doesn’t care about his own son, not to mention his brother or deceased nephew. if Ozai follows the order and kills Zuko, then whenever Azulon dies and Iroh becomes Fire Lord, Ozai just has to get rid of Iroh, and he gets to be Fire Lord with his favored child as his heir.

from Azulon’s standpoint, forcing Ozai to kill Azula makes more sense. it’s a greater punishment, it leaves him with a child he views as a failure as his only heir, it ruins all the hard work he’s done so far to turn Azula into a success, and it reminds him of his place.

so when Azulon gives the order and Azula overhears, Ozai finds her after the meeting and instructs her to tell Zuko and Ursa that Azulon ordered Zuko’sdeath. why? so he can convince Ursa to get rid of Azulon for him. Azulon is gone, and Ursa is technically the one who did it, which gets her banished and frees Ozai up to treat the kids however he wants. including eventually getting rid of Zuko whenever the opportunity presents itself.

conclusion: Azulon ordered Ozai to kill Azula, Ozai had Azula lie and say Zuko was the target to get Ursa to kill the Fire Lord for him

I just. Feel really grateful for fanfiction. For everyone that writes it, everyone that reads it, everyone that shares their random feelings about characters and events and lore, or leaves a comment or a tag. What an amazing and intertwined community we live in, inspiring and being inspired by one another to create and consume things for no other reason than that it makes us happy.

feeling ROBBED by rick rn of the brotherly relationship we could have had between percy and nico, if Percy hadn’t of treated nico the way he did in hoo (yk, i understand him because was in his second prophecy arc, lost his memory and life for 6months etc ect. still doesn’t sit right with me considering percy’s caring character). VIRIA ART AGAIN are we surprised

anyway seeing this art has made me realise how much i wanted a younger-older brother relationship between nico and percy. i want to see nico learn that finally admitting his feelings for percy, to percy, lifted such a weight off his chest- that it wasnt as bad as he had built up in his head. i want to see nico slowly learning to re-appreciate percy’s presence, like he used to before bianca died (even if he wont have his 10yo energy for a while) after confronting percy in hoo. for nico to finally open up and begin to talk to percy about his draining emotional journey for the past 4/5 years, how his internal processing of his emotions was so unhealthy for him and that he so desperately needed help from a loved one, and for percy to realise and admit where he could have done better for nico, and to apologise. overall i just want them to slowly find closure from each other, learning to love (platonic) each other again (does that even make sense i am just #rambling rn), because after so many years of grief and pain thats what they deserve!!!

normal-horoscopes:

All writing advice is fundamentally bullshit but more authors need to study poetry. Like really truly study poetry. Good characters and good plots are all well and good, but is it actually enjoyable to read? Like line by line, phrase by phrase, have you constructed sentences with voice, pacing, and tension?

The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose above the misty peaks of Imfaral. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.

Naruto, 6 tails, worst emotions he’s ever shown.. going demon mode because Hinata got hurt protecting him..

Izuku, 6 quirks, worst emotions he’s ever shown.. going demon mode because Katsuki got hurt protecting him..

Hinata and Katsuki, being Mc’s triggers and love interests, getting a reaction from them no one else gets. This is a very popular trope in shonen mangas.

Katsuki literally has all the traits of a love interest it’s crazy. Maybe that’s why this is such a popular ship in Japan. Horikoshi really dumped all the tropes he’s ever heard of into Izuku’s and Katsuki’s relationship. Even Ochako’s VA and Noguchi joked that KACCHAN was the true heroine. Because he IS. And I’m sure Horikoshi is aware of this.

And while Izuku is the type to sacrifice himself for everyone because that’s who he is.. he is able to calculate his moves and is sane throughout the process of saving.. but when Katsuki is the one in danger, Izuku loses his composure, shuts down, loses control and recklessly launches himself, nearly ending the world by letting Tenko touch him.

When Katsuki was taken by villains, Izuku keeps screaming “give Kacchan back to ME”. Eventho compress keeps screaming at him.. Izuku doesn’t comprehend this. He looks and sounds like an animal. He wants his Kacchan back. He has tunnel vision. He doesn’t even notice Tokoyami was taken too.

When Black whip was activated, Izuku lost control of himself and literally had to be mind controlled to get his act together.. and then was told to control what’s inside his heart, decided to HIDE this whole thing and then wonder: “If it reacted to my feelings then…at that time I was….” Never finishing the sentence. This CAN’T possibly be anything but romantic.

Not to mention “Love breeds sacrifice which breeds hatred” literally embodies the entire chapter 285 of MHA.. and chapter 437 of Naruto in which the quote was said about Naruhina and we all know Horikoshi is a huge Naruto nerd and took inspiration from it.

as im rereading crime and punishment one of the things that makes me remember why i love this book so much is that it takes the whole “brooding male character is too intelligent for the surrounding laymen, his lack of empathy makes him more masculine, he is above the average person” male fantasy and flips it on its head. raskolnikov wants to believe he’s all of these things. he wants to believe that he’s already so detached from society that he’s above it and beyond saving. that he’s already a bad guy, that it’s just a burden he’ll have to bear, and that if he’s gonna alienate himself he might as well play the part of the monster. he might as well commit murder (both to prove that he can do it, and to lift himself and potentially others from financial hardship) because he knows he can put himself into a logical mindset since he believes he’s so good at turning off his emotions. he won’t feel any guilt or compassion, right? he’s a step above human, right? so he must be the perfect sacrificial lamb to bear the burden of murder.

but he’s not. and the book is just him constantly betraying himself. he wants so badly to believe that he’s capable of cold-blooded premeditated murder, and that he’s capable of putting his humanity aside for the “greater good.” he swings between considering himself a sort of superman for his ability to commit murder, and considering himself scum of the earth for even thinking of such a thing. he never just considers himself human. but the problem is that he is human, and he’s a lot better of a person than he wants to admit. he’s absolutely full of contradictions. in the same breath as cursing himself for being crushingly poor, he gives away his remaining money to children in need–despite it logically putting him in a worse financial situation. within the same hour he kills an old woman with an axe, after he nearly gets home, his first instinct is to go out of his way to return the axe to the worker he borrowed it from, cleaned up and in the same position he found it–despite him acknowledging that returning it was much riskier than just getting rid of the axe somewhere else.

raskolnikov paradoxically wants to commit the perfect crime, and get recognition for it. but as soon as it’s recognized, he’s no longer gotten away with it. with recognition comes confession, and with confession comes the realization that he’s just not the guy he thought he was. he’s not some ultra cunning, heartless, cold-blooded mastermind. he’s not the napoleonic figure he admired. he’s not a cardboard cutout of solid logic and reason 100% of the time. he physically falls ill from his own mental battle ffs. no matter how much he plans the murder, he still panics. no matter how much he tiptoes around conversations after the murder, he still feels guilt. no matter how much he isolates himself from his friends and family for the sake of self-crucifixion, he still allows himself to be fed soup by them, one spoonful at a time, while they gently blow on it so that he does not burn himself.

he’s driven by emotion just as much as logic. the biggest problem with raskolnikov is that his humanity far exceeds his own expectations. and learning that redemption is possible is scary, because it means learning humility and taking accountability for oneself. having something to live for and improve toward is as much of a heavy nuisance as it is an honorable goal. only a person with some amount of goodness can recognize that and still choose to undertake that task, regardless of how logically inconvenient it is. and raskolnikov is, unfortunately, a much better person than he thought.
