SS Beaver driveshaft, Monday 5 November 1962
The SS Beaver was the first steamship to operate in the Pacific Northwest. It ran from 1836 until 1888 when the inebriated crew crashed it at Prospect Point in Stanley Park. There are still remains of the Beaver off Stanley Park, but they are now protected and can’t lawfully be removed.
