this actually makes Jim’s eventual appearance in Season 2 all the more interesting because the only aspect of Jim that has actually never properly been explored is the Kirk brothers’ relationship and this would actually give the show a reason for Jim to be around that actually has weight and meaning beyond just pure fan service!!
I like that Number One at first tries to approach beaming a piece of a planet’s mantle onto the ship or trying to touch the warp core the same way one would approach a toddler trying to eat crayons.

no disrespect to others, but i never understood Pike/Vina. He knew her for like a day or two? I get that canonically he goes back to be with her (but it’s also so he doesn’t have to be in the yes/no beep wheelchair anymore tbf) but he doesn’t knowVina.
Sure, the potential for love is there, but as it stands, at the moment he doesn’t love Vina (yet. I’m not saying future!Pike doesn’t fall in love with her when he goes back to Talos IV)
Meanwhile, Number One canonically has fantasies and feelings about Pike, so you can bet your bottom dollar I’m gonna ship the hell out of it.
Absolutely agree, good points! The only thing that I would like to add, and what’s… Well… Not bugging me, but the one thing that keeps this possible future, or option for me, for Pike, is how Pike reacted to Vina in Disco… That tells me that Pike might not be head over heels for Vina, there’s definitely something… Something more than He has for Una… As of right now, what we saw in Disco, and what we are seeing in SNW… I mean, what I see… I’m just theorizing here, the only things I could back up my argument with is what I’m seeing in the series…

Oh he definitely likesand fancies Vina 100%, but if it wasn’t for his accident and what happens in the Menagerie, I can’t imagine him ever going back to Talos IV to be with her. But like I said, I can easily imagine him falling in love with Vina when he does go to Talos IV (though I just don’t vibe with it as a pairing and never have).
At the moment, it’s obvious Pike cares about Number One, she is one of his closest friends and confidants (the other being Spock, but Pike is more of a mentor/space!dad to Spock). Number One’s not in his quarters cleaning dishes, drinking his alcohol, and begging him to save his own life if they were just standard friends. There’s probably some underlying awkwardness to their friendship - that they just completely ignore - due to all the events of The Cage as well, lbh.
I think my main reason for liking Pike/Number One is because I can’t stand unrequited love in fiction, and like I said, it’s canon that Number One has feelings for him (the Talosians calling her out for her fantasies in The Cage, Spock calling her out on her observations of Pike - and Number One getting flustered in return - in the Q&A Short Trek, and even the way she speaks/emotes when making her personal log at the end of SNW: Ghosts of Illyria). So in the end, I just want him to return the feelings (even though realistically I don’t think it’ll happen)
I don’t think they’ll ‘fix’ Pike’s ending, and if they don’t fix it, I doubt they’d go the Pike/Number One route because of his ending involving Vina. But I can naively pray for it, because Pike’s ending makes me sad to think about haha
i defended Pike fighting for Number One to stay in Starfleet to this neckbeard on reddit and apparently he’s a super important security clearance military historian and i don’t know what a flagship is and how Number One is a huge security risk and ghosts of illyria ruined the credibility of the show
