Due its massive card pool and several themes and branches to play with, is no suprise that every type of HERO archetype shares nearly the same options. No matter if we focus on the Fusion Summons of Elemental HERO, the card management of Destiny HERO, or concentrate on the setups involving “Elemental HERO Neos”, there’s a solid number of tools that are seen in any HERO strategy and playstyle. Not only that, but these cards are also capable of HERO groups to create bridges with each other, letting players to mix their unique mechanics and benefit each other.
“Elemental HERO Stratos” has a strong reputation among the playerbase as one of the best HERO monsters out there just by being able to cover the entire HERO card pool on its own. When Normal or Special Summoned, “Stratos” will trigger one of two abilities up to our choice. Either will destroy as many Spells and Traps as HERO monsters we control (Excluding “Stratos”), or instead will add a HERO monster from our Deck to our hand. While the first effect has good potential to clear entire backrows under the right field, “Stratos” common role is its ability to obtain any of the hundreds of HEROs available in the whole card game. With several years being forbidden, “Stratos” finally returns to quickly become a staple member of any HERO archetype and strategy.
While being limited in the TCG forbids “Stratos” from searching any other copies, that won’t stop it from being easily accesible in one or another and obtain one of its effects under any situation. Other HERO cards also provides searching options to obtain “Stratos” and others, from the mere activation of “E - Emergency Call” to sending to the Graveyard “Elemental HERO Shadow Mist”. “A Hero Lives” is a more direct option as summons “Stratos” from inside our Deck, but can be riskful in early game due making us lose half our Life Points. Resources for this task goes further when looking outside the archetype, with the classic “Reinforcement of the Army” to the more recent “Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights” becoming recurring choices among Warrior-Type monsters. With its abilities available even by Special Summon we can include other options to bring out “Stratos” while preparing our field for various goals, with “Summoner Monk” summoning it from our Deck or cards like “Goblindbergh” and “Elemental HERO Solidman” arriving along the HERO from our hand. The abilities of “Stratos” when stop from helping us while in the Graveyard, with the mentioned “Solidman” and other revival effects bringing it back for any purpose while also triggering one of its two abilities.
With zero restrictions whatsoever and potentially exploitable effects, “Stratos” can keep adding HERO monsters to our hand as long we can keep summoning it. Thanks to the previously mentioned support, even despite its limited status “Stratos” has the potential to keep adding HERO monsters to our hand turn after turn. Its searching ability covers the gigantic number of HEROs in the card game, so is really up to which monster(s) we might need for the occasion.Some like “Vision HERO Vyon”, “Elemental HERO Blazeman”, “Elemental HERO Prisma” and “Elemental HERO Solidman” are recurring choices to prepare all sorts of goals involving most HEROs. Destiny HEROs can either look for monsters to use with “Destiny Draw” to draw cards and fuel their Graveyard, or prepare the arrival of “Destiny HERO - Plasma” or “Destiny End Dragoon” in their next moves. Other HERO cards work more as coverage, going from “Elemental HERO Honest Neos” providing an ATK boost during any battle, to “Elemental HERO Bubbleman” allowing us to gain momentum once we start running out of cards. And obviously there’s the many Fusion setups we can aim towards with, ranging from the many forms “Elemental HERO Neos” can turn into, to providing any HERO monster to work along “Mask Change” to summon “Masked HEROs”. Overall this might seem that the removal effect of “Stratos” will barely have any uses, but if needed in can take care of one or more cards along a strong HERO board.
“Elemental HERO Stratos” is undoubtly one of the most efficient searchers in the card game, not only due its unrestricted abilities but also by singlehandedly supporting one of the biggest archetypes in the entire game. While its ability to destroy backrow cards will barely have any uses, allowing us to search for any HERO monster just by being summoned makes “Stratos” an incredibly valuable card no matter our playstyle. After years in the banlist “Stratos” might’ve slightly aged due some HERO Decks prefering Graveyard setups with the help of members like “Vision HERO Vyon” or “Elemental HERO Prisma”, but still remains a powerful searching option for any build with some HEROs to work with.
