This is a little Diana I did recently; She’s in pen and ink with watercolor, to look like a woodcut (sort of). The original’s only an inch and a half square!

Diana is the Roman Goddess of women, the Moon, and the wild places; Her festival was on August 13th.

I’ve put this art up on cards at zazzle; they’re blank inside, and you get a discount if you buy multiples!

New art of Ceres, the Roman Goddess of grain, done as the Goddess by Request for August over on my Patreon. The original is in colored pencil. She has wheat, spelt, barley, poppy pods and rapeseed pods (from which canola oil is made) as a crown.

Artemis, 2nd Century AD, Perge, Antalya Archaeological Museum

August 13th was when Diana, the Roman equivalent of the Greek goddess Artemis, goddess of the hunt, the moon and childbirth was worshiped.

This statue of the hunting Artemis was found in Perge, a city in ancient Pamphylia, near modern-day Antalya, Turkey.  With a temple dedicated to and annual celebrations in honor of the goddess, Perge was renowned for its worship of Artemis. I guess they must have had quite a party there tonight 2,000 years ago.
