Going to my first convention for over two years - Starfury’s Voughtcon for The Boys. I was thinking I would just buy some official pics to get signed but then that’s kind of lazy, so I’ve started doing some drawings instead. Three down, two to go if I get the time before Friday…
Had a lot of fun playing around with the elric brothers and winery’s outfits in these drawings!!!! Amestris is a fantasy setting so it didn’t matter too much but I would have loved to see it lean a little harder into the 1910s aesthetic…
I didn’t want to change too much about Ed’s but wanted to play with the details of his outfit and see if i could shift it to be sliiightly less modern.. still not sure how well I succeeded but I loved adding more texture and weight to his outfits!!!… and then for Winry I tried to go even further with it because her canon outfit is so modern!!! Giving her a simple Edwardian blouse and skirt… but she rolls up the sleeves and wears a more masculine coat!
Then for Al I wanted to try designing an outfit for him that could feel more like an iconic protagonist look than the simple casual stuff we see him wearing when he’s got his human body! So I tried to go for a simple colour scheme that’s reminiscent of the armour and like strong shapes? And lots of layers!!!! He’s nerdy but practical… I also love to headcanon him using a cane made from a little bit of the scraps of his old armour! (Having a body that spent four years in the void probably has some long lasting effects…) I know there’s a canon manga story where he gives it all to winry to make into automail which I LOVE but I also love the thought of Ed setting a little aside and helping make that into something for Al himself!!!
The last one is just assorted Al doodles because I love him…. baby boy

can’t stop thinking about how kripke kept telling jackles “don’t do the dean voice” leaving me deadly curious about how soldier boy will sound. god i hope he does something weird. i hope he tries to sound like jimmy stewart.
