Happy Bunny Butt Friday!

“Are you two spooning without me?” -Emilee

These two girls have had a rough start to their summer, but now they’re finally able to enjoy their lazy summer days.

About two months ago, we were about to go on a 10 day trip and planned to board the buns at our local shelter. Before we left, we found out she had an overgrown tooth that needed to be taken care of right away. She’s had many dental procedures in her life due to bad genetics and countless teeth extractions so we didn’t worry too much. The vet offered boarding for her so she could monitor Olive during the recovery period and give us updates while we’re on vacation. We agreed and then dropped off Nugget and Emilee at our local shelter. When we came back, Olive was fully recovered and ready to go home, she’s a champ! But then we discovered Emilee had dislocated her hip somehow and back to the vet we went! Thankfully, nothing was broken according to her X-ray. Our vet gave us several options for surgeries, but we ultimately decided to take her home and let Emilee adapt to her dislocated hip. We decided against the surgeries because Emilee was able to hop around and even tried to jump into my arms when we put her on the exam table at the vet’s office. The vet said that there’s a chance of arthritis as she gets older, but she can live normally even with a bad hip. We brought her home and kept her in a small pen for 3-4 weeks as she healed. After that, we rebonded our trio and all is good at the Buns’ residence.

Hope you all are enjoying this hot summer! Remember to stay hydrated and wear sunscreen!
